Repeatedly assassinated alongside partners, young children and extended family despite a supposed ceasefire.

Regardless of one's views of their religious (and other) beliefs, no one deserves to go like that. Sickening.

Let the moral outrage upvotes rain in.

You responded to my post and effectively said ‘what you’re saying is correct but…’ and then used examples from one of the follow up posts from the poster where they’ve tried to defend their original question and are clearly backtracking. And that’s fine, but, to me, I don’t know how anyone can even begin to defend the position of the poster

Sorry, but you really have got that completely wrong (though as I said, I can understand how your confusion’s arisen).

What I actually said was not that the first part of your post was correct “but” …

I said the first part of your post was correct *and* that it was *also* reasonable to simultaneously think both sides in the conflict are repugnant *and also* that a policy of using human shields is reprehensible.

I don’t think I’m the one confused here to be honest. You’ve responded to my post, agreed with the only point that I’ve made on this thread (that the posters question is morally bankrupt and disgusting) and then used the poster’s backtracking thread to add some whataboutery to your post.

At no point did I “take issue” with 2 of the 3 points in their post, I just didn’t comment on them because they’re irrelevant to my point; that the question they posed is a disgusting one.

I have now, you were clearly editing your post whilst I was replying.

And what I’m saying is, to me, it’s weird that you felt the need to add in points from the poster to your response rather than just being able to say that the way I felt about the question was correct. You suggested that I had “taken issue” with 2 of the 3 points raised in their backtracking post which is patently untrue. I hadn’t commented on those points because they’re irrelevant to my point; that the question posed is disgusting. The fact that you felt the need to include those points, which were irrelevant to my post, seems very strange to me. Maybe go back and read what I actually said.

I don’t think it’s clear that the family of six that were murdered had anything to do with Hamas. Husband, wife and 3 daughters killed , Hamas operative was target, doesn’t say anything as to whether that was a family member or not.

Absolutely shocking and disgusting 1150 men women and Children killed by Israel since the ceasefire and daily attacks there.

Add that to the 70000 before, it’s genocide , plain and simple

Hamas refuses to differentiate between civilians and combatants. We do not know how many combatants have been killed, estimate 17-24000. Are you pining for their loss too?

I would hope everyone would be on the same side when it comes to things like this but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case. The state of the world enrages me now and the fact that anyone would defend things that I feel are indefensible baffles me but I appreciate that wasn’t what you were doing. Apologies if I went in too hard on your responses

I agree with all of that
However many states have flaunted this rule in the GC including the US under Barak Obama with repeated drone strikes in the middle east during his presidency
We live in a world now where international law is routinely ignored with no accountability

My question was directed to the apparent objection that children witnessing (not being killed as per the post I replied to) the murder of their parents will make them hate the Israeli's and look for revenge, when IMHO they've been raised to hate them anyway, and it seemed an odd take on the situation

This is exterminist talk straight from the most radical of Israeli nuts, suggesting that there are no innocent Palestinians.

What on earth is the point you're trying to make?

Even using your figures which could be debated you're saying that 50000 non-combatants have been killed, a large proportion of those women and children. You don't think this is an issue?

The IDF have been given a free hand to just kill whomever they like without any real consequences and posts like yours hand-wave it away.

This, from Streeting today, will teach'em.

"I believe very strongly in Israel’s right to defend itself, to defend its values, its freedom, and its democracy, just as we do every single day.

But I also hold Israel, as a friend and ally, to the same standard that we hold ourselves to. That is the standard that should be applied to Israel. That is the standard that I think I feel they’ve fallen short of.

We’ve got a responsibility as a country to make sure that we’re good friends. We’re good friends who are also critical friends when necessary.”

And as I've said before, why do we sanction or talk about sanctions in relation to the West Bank when there are far worse horrors in Gaza, including Israel now occupying two-thirds of it?

Not sure what your getting at there, if your not upset or moved by very conservatively 50000 civilians being murdered, the majority being children then there isn’t much hope for you as a human being.

"Regardless of one's views of their religious (and other) beliefs, no one deserves to go like that." You appear to be equating Ann Widdecombe with Hamas?

Perhaps, like the radical leftists you think she was a fascist and/or a nazi? It's that type of hyperbole that would leave her vulnerable to attack as everyone wants to punch a nazi right?

Do I? Well that's an interesting flex!

That's the most terrifying and depressing thing about all of this.

A supposedly civilised country killing something like 50,000 totally innocent human beings in an extended campaign of murder, has been normalised as collateral damage, and somehow people accept this.
