Next I meet I see my Chinese neighbour I’ll demand that he is more vocal about Xi’s treatment of the Uyghurs. That way less people will be racist towards him and his family. Staggering that people think this way. Racism is always the fault of the racists. Not the victims. |
I'm not victim blaming. I'm suggesting that institutions Jewish and others that could, should call out Israel. Instead we have continued support for this regime and it's fundamental complete disregard for the very basic human rights of others.

Blaming innocent people because of the actions of others who happen to follow their creed or sect is the start of a very slippery slope. It is good that the BBC is publicising these beliefs, however. It's good for as many people as possible to find out how ridiculous these views are, as well as dangerousm |

I hate the actions of Israel as much as anyone, and I have my reasons for that, but I don’t think calling on just the Jewish community to speak up against it is right or fair. Anyone supporting the actions of Israel’s government is despicable, regardless of their religion, in the same way that anyone supporting Hamas’ actions is equally despicable. We should all call out these horrendous actions at every opportunity, but expecting one particular group to take the lead on that isn’t right in my opinion. |
Yes that's a good point. I think there's a reluctance among non jewish organisations to call out Israel as Israel labels any critisism as antisemetism. It jewish institutions take the lead it can't.

Why should an Irish Dance group, in Australia, have to come out and apologise for Irish terrorism. It’s arrogance. You are telling a minority group of people that have zero responsibility for an act, how to act. Do all environmental groups have to apologise and distance themselves from Just Stop Oil. Does the RSPCA have distance themselves when animal rights activists attack people. Why are you telling Jewish people in Venezuela what they should?

Or on occasion being spat at. My first real job in the UK came about after I was considering taking my case to the Campaign for Racial Equality that was taking UK government to court for discrimination against people like myself. When I got that job, I was still summoned to the boss, to be told they were worried about my “divided” loyalty. I also always remember a teacher telling a bunch of National Front campaigners to get away from the school, and saying what they could do with their leaflets. They weren’t keen on Irish people, it was before it was cool. I might have worded it better by using the words motmal or average but the point still stands. I keep hearing about the rise of real and imagined Antisemitism in the world which seems to be happening but there is no connection been drawn to the behaviour of Isreal in all of this. Apparently thats not a justification because a few Israeli citizens don't agree with the carry on and there have been protests. | Israeli West Bank settlers ultra extreme views on 08:21 - Aug 2 by GlasgowBlue | Using your logic, the Israeli electorate will bear the same responsibility as those who re elected the Blair government in 2005, just two years after 200,000 innocent civilians were killed in his illegal war in Iraq. Thankfully, the latest polls suggest that the Israeli electorate won’t do that. https://www.haaretz.com/israel And for those who don’t know, Netanyahu hasn’t won a majority fur several years and is only kept in power by a coalition with extremism’s and terrorist supporters. And there have been many anti war protests by Israelis since October 7. “ On 9 November 2023, Israeli police arrested former MK Mohammad Barakeh in Nazareth for attempting to organize an anti-war protest.[58][59] In an interview with Time Magazine, Barakeh described Israel's crackdowns on free speech as fascist.[60] Israeli anti-Zionists reported hostility, threats from far-right groups, police brutality, and being perceived as "traitors".[61] On 18 November 2023, Israel held its first permitted anti-war protest in Tel Aviv.[62] Two activists in Haifa were arrested for quietly protesting against the war.[63] On 27 December, protesters from northern Israeli border towns protested in Tel Aviv, demanding to know when they would be allowed to return home.[64] On 17 January 2024, a peaceful anti-war protest in Tel Aviv was broken up by police for "harming the feelings of the public".[65] Palestinian and Jewish Israelis held a protest calling for the end of the war on 20 January 2024.[66] One protester stated, "The government and the police in particular have done everything in their power to prevent [Jews and Arabs] from coming together."[67] The protest was allowed after the organizers took it all the way to the Supreme Court.[68] Oren Ziv, a journalist for +972 Magazine, posted a video on social media showing police confiscating an anti-war banner on 27 January 2024 that stated "stop the genocide".[69] On 14 February, protesters demonstrated outside Israel's Defence Ministry, calling for a ceasefire and the protection of children in Rafah.[70] On 29 February, activists from Standing Together held up bags of flour in protest of the Al-Rashid massacre, stating, "In Gaza today more than a hundred people were killed in line for flour and food. The war and the killing of hungry and innocent people do not bring us security, they only give birth to more pain".[71] On 1 March, protesters in Kafr Kanna called for an end to the war, to Israel's attacks on Palestinians, and to Israel's planned invasion of Rafah.[72] On 9 March, protesters in Umm al-Fahm demonstrated in opposition to the war.[73] Protesters paraglided over Netanyahu's home on 25 March, carrying slogans accusing him for not taking responsibility for the 7 October attack.[74] Five members of the Free Jerusalem movement were reportedly arrested for "protesting against the criminal attack on Gaza".[75] In May 2024, six anti-war protesters were forcibly arrested during a Palestinian solidarity demonstration in Haifa.[76] In June 2024, Israeli police arrested at least three antiwar demonstrators protesting against the Nuseirat refugee camp massacre.[77][78] In April 2025, thousands of Israelis held anti-war demonstrations in Tel Aviv against Israel's actions against Palestinians and holding pictures of Palestinian children who had been killed by Israel.[79]” Edit. And to highlight the hypocrisy. Across the world, including a firebombing in Toronto last night, many Jewish shops and business have been attacked because of the actions of the Israeli state. Despite no connection to Israel.Russia invaded Ukraine, flattened cities, took their children and bought them up as Russian, a feature of genocide. And yet you can have a Russian shop in a London and, quite rightly, not be attacked or protested outside of. https://dachashop.co.uk/?route It appears only Jews are held responsible for the actions of a foreign government. You make various points here but israel is not just a foreign government with respect to the worldwide jewish community. Also: 'And yet you can have a Russian shop in a London and, quite rightly, not be attacked or protested outside of.' What if that Russian shop had had opened since the invasion of Ukraine a few metres from a Ukrainian owned shop and competing for the same type of customer. i'm not condoning any vandalism but it wouldn't be suprising if it occured.

You should oppose it and explain why it is wrong and irrational, whenever someone tries to rationalise it. You didn’t read fully the message of that post. A.I... British Jews maintain a strong, widespread affinity and emotional attachment to Israel, alongside deep concern for its welfare, according to data from the Institute of Jewish Policy Research (JPR). Key findings show 77% to 78% feel attached to Israel, 88% view it as the ancestral homeland, and 71% feel a great deal of concern for Israelis, even as opinions on Israeli political leadership remain heavily critical. [1, 2, 3] Core Measures of Affinity Ancestral Connection: 88% of British Jews regard Israel as the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people. Emotional Attachment: 77% report feeling attached to Israel, with high rates of personal visits and familial ties. This is not something that any member of the Labour government has said in public. When questioned recently, he toned it down and said Israel had fallen short, something of a euphemism. You've completely ignored that several people on here alone, either Jewish or with Jewish spouses or other connections, have condemned MANY times, on numerous occasions, Netanyahu's appalling and illegal actions - so you can't have failed to see those protests, as you're frequently on these threads. That highlights exactly what I said earlier about having no traction - when even you are deaf/blind/able to forgot those posts, it shows in microcosm the pointlessness of such protests/condemnations; & how appalling it is to blame the Jewish diaspora themselves for the antisemitism aimed at them. The majority of counties are manufactured. Even Islands such as Great Britain have been segmented into 3 nation states, mostly by fighting. Nobody in Venzelua is taking sides in a fight between and Englishman, Scottish man or Welshman walking into a bar in Caracas based on the details of a manufactured border. Again, if you want to talk to someone who supports the actions of the current Israeli Government, about their support, find someone who does, and talk to them.

For goodness sake, Jewish people around the world living anywhere other than Israel (have you ever stopped to wonder why they make that choice when they could go to live there if they wanted?) are by definition nothing whatsoever to do with the politics of that "manufactured country", unless they happen to be a politician who was in power in the 1940s - as Eireblue has tried to explain far more eloquently than me.

You are clearly being an genocide enabler with your defence of lack of major Jewish pushback on a Jewish state. You have jumped on the fact that I pointed out that Jews have not in any great numbers vocally opposed this genocide. I didn't make a big issue about it and just pointed it out as an explanation for the rising anti Jewish actions around the world. This relative silence also enables the racists and the genuine antisemites. There also seems to be lots of excuses for the election of Netanyahu and the Arab haters and there is nothing that can be done but to get Israeli allies to come down heavily on anyone else who challanges Israels military actions against the Palastinians. I can understand why Jews worldwide do not want to put their head above the parapet but those in higher positions who are protected see to be more focused on perceived or real antisemitism. I looks like this is being used as a protective blanket and avoids addressing the Palestinian 'preblem'. I also think that this strategy is counter productive and just perpetuates the horror. I am not seeing any sign of a Good Friday Agreement even being considered by Israel. Just to point out that while Ed has a huge Irish affinity, he does not have an Irish passport. Maybe it would be better to ask Tommy ten names about the bomb as he does have one. All this is complete nonsense anyway and a deflection on the excusing the Jewish silence on something that themselves experienced and want to protect themselves from ever happening again.
