Plaudits rightly for Julio and Jack but a massive mention for Emmerson

Reminds me of hirst in the first champ season. All rounder and brings in players. But also showed some glimpses of quick feet and directness. Really looking forward to seeing him grow

That bit of control down the right then the dink between the two defenders and run on beyond them gave me a massive boner!

edit: down the left, wasn't it, but whichever way I dress the effect was the same.

And stronger than I initially thought, held off a Sunderland defender more than once.

I'm also pleased he's got a goal quickly to get that monkey off his back.

I couldn't believe how good he was. Absolutely brilliant performance from him today - how he challenged for the ball, his movement off it and bringing players into game. The finish for the goal was harder than it first looked too, as the ball was slightly behind him.

Indeed, he was so much better and stronger than I was expecting.

Makes me think o Neil has an eye for a player too.

Exciting times!

If he progresses at the rate he has done so since being here then he’s gonna be some player

Looks like a hybrid of Hirst and Delap (the best bits of each), which is actually a pretty formidable striker. I underrated him at first. He’s a wonderful signing.

Outstanding performance from him, holding up the ball, bringing others into play, winning headers, drawing fouls - linked beautifully with Ensico.
