Seem to be back out of the woodwork.

I thought the support today was excellent. Particularly liked us getting behind Nunez after the slip and the response to the team at the end.

But there's always a fly in the ointment. Bloke behind me spent the entire game screaming 'c*"t' at everyone. Seemed to think he's the only person to ever shout 'second ball' and gave Chuba some horrendous abuse all the time he was on

I know it's not always great to use this line but my first thought was 'I don't remember you at Forest Green or millions of games before that'.

Will never understand supporters who don't want to support the team. Show frustration yes but gratuitously abusing the team and thinking you're a big man for it is just pathetic and not support.

Otherwise great away following.

The fact most there would have been in the highger away points bracket there is a high chance that they were at 'Forest Green and millions of other games'.

Did the 'big man' celebrate our goals? - I expect he did, but you haven't mentioned that bit. Let's not forget people show emotion in different ways. I was absolutely fuming yesterday during that crazy 15mins in the 2nd half and would undoubtedly shared a few choice words. Is that allowed?

Don't think they would have been to be honest. Allocations in league one days were often 1800 or so. Bigger allocations in PL sometimes means you get some of these numpties.

No idea if he celebrated our goals because I was too busy celebrating.

Screaming 'you thick lazy c**t' repeatedly.at Akpom isn't remotely on imo.

No problem with frustration, I do it, but there's a difference between that and pathetic men trying to prove some form of bizarre masculinity or something by being performatively vicious. You're not in green street lad.

Yesterday was not a day to be fuming with the team. No lqck of effort or character. We were unlucky and then United who have world class players ran riot. It can happen. Won't define our season. Brilliant display first half. Not easy to do that at OT. Couldn't sustain it but that's what GON acknowledged.

I can’t see why so many people on here get so worked up what a few people sing or chant tbh.

Quite. And I think many (esp those living abroad who may never get to away games) are completely missing the point - the irony, fans having a laugh including at themselves, and the whole escapist experience of attending away games.

We're allowed to get back to being kids again, one of the joys of football - forget all your own problems and the godawful global ones for two hours. Descend into the delicious self-mockery and ancient rituals of "We are the left side" : "We are the right side" of the away stand. We are kids in church & it's absolute heaven!!

I do wonder sometimes where all these people were when we were playing Preston away in the championship, and losing, obviously.

In lighter news and a good story from last season some town fans in their 70s sat chatting to my son saying I remember your dad when he was your age coming with his dad and their mate, so that was good to have completed the ITFC full circle.

Well there were a few right behind me at Deepdale last year, shouting c**t at Jack Clarke (of all players !) every time he touched the ball. The CAUCs...

Poll: To make him more acceptable what should Gary O'Neill change his middle name to ?

It doesn’t stop ‘football in a library’ and the likes being incredibly tinpot chants.

Not sure what happened to away ends that used to belt out following Ipswich over land and sea, or signing Ipswich to amazing Grace etc.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

I did wonder last season whether Colchester fans singing 'Cheltenham's a shit-hole, I wanna... ' etc were laughing at themselves. You'd give them the benefit of the doubt?

I wasn't there and don't know them, therefore would give them the benefit of the doubt, yes. With the rider that it was a group, therefore might not be true of all of them.

Colleague pointed out that apart from singing about Norwich nothing came across on TV.
It did seem that the fans went totally silent after the third goal went in and United's corporate mob and football tourists were louder.
Going to need to get behind the side at home if we are to have any chance of avoiding the drop. I hope our fans don't revert to type and start the booing if we are up against it on Friday.

Why would you ? It just risks you having to deal with them for the rest of the game , that type are not going to just shut up

If we’re having a laugh doing it, what’s the issue? It’s not as if there’s 90 minutes of songs like that. We’re not the best for chants, but we’ve got a few other ones.

We’re also generally pretty loud and proud compared with some clubs, sometimes even compared with their home crowds!

Edit: I remember one away game oop north, can’t remember where/when but probably 15+ years ago, where the home crowd were chanting “going down, going down, going down” and we responded with
“So are we, so are we, so are we” 😂

I also hate the “were going to win 6-5” stuff I heard on tv

Just makes us sound like a little league 1 club in a jolly not a team coming back up.

Spend your energy singing to get behind the team.

“I heard on TV” being the key part of this.

Those who’ve payed, travelled and turned up can chant what they want

What is worse is a family unit sitting behind you supplying a running commentary on the game and what should have hsppened every few minutes.
The occasional scream , their last holiday and the run down on a shopping trip.

Nothing worse than non stop natter.

It's not even that I was thinking of, it's the way some have a go at individual players like Nunez for slipping over on a very wet surface eg; or saying that "5 goals against is never acceptable", as if two of them weren't incredibly unlucky.

Absolutely ridiculous, can only think they're either new to football,or not Town fans.

All these idiots see is the end result, either too pissed up or looking at their damn phones all game, what they don't see is the entire first half where Town more than matched Utd and had the better chances, nor do they take the unfortunate slip into consideration. we don't even need to go there about the second farce of a goal, if the second is ruled out then the penalty doesn't happen either. Even the Fourth had an incredible deflection that fell right at the feet of Fernandes, could have gone anywhere. Those type of fans see none of this.

Surely it would have been the best thing to do,if someone is upsetting you enough in the stadium?

Rather than wait until the safety of your Home Screen ?

“Is this a library?”
“Xxxx is a shhthole, I want to go home”
“Your support is fccking shht”

Not all heard today, but often get wheeled out, just makes us look like lower yokels on a jolly-up.

I quite enjoyed the following chant, when we were leading.

"It's a long way to London when you lose."

And the more common

"We support our local team."

which is not a chant that many of the big clubs can sing.

And the people round me were all fine which isn't always the case.

So really what’s new? There has and always will be idiots in any footie crowd!
As has been pointed out a “ great away following” so why get upset at a few nobends?
I’m sure some Utd fans were giving it back,it happens at every game since time began.

Well said.

Far too many fun police, so often those that don’t even attend - as long as it’s not offensive, or deriding our players, would far rather we were singing generic songs than sitting in silence. Literally everyone sings those songs- even the ‘big clubs’.

TWTD: “Town fans are too quiet, we need to sing more”

Also TWTD: “Not those songs’..”

I’ve got back home about an hour ago (Sheffield )

Firstly the second half was brutal

Anyway ref your point I was in block 229 and to my right a little further down was a guy mid twenties I’d say not watching the game for the most but just shouting abuse at the Inited fans and offering them out. Absolute bell end

Other than that , we were loud and proud
