The dodgy Sherpen pass first half 23:49 - Sep 12 with 1432 viewsGarv

It's actually Lukic's fault as much anything. He shows for it so Sherpen passes it to his strong side, and Lukic doesn't react at all.

Was just reading some thread on Facebook about Scherpen. Poster criticised him, and a barrage of replies sticking up for Scherpen - nice to see most have his back while he gets to grips with a new club, defence, league and home.

Yep, seems some of our " supporters " have it in for our keepers if they don't look like Gordon Banks ( for us oldies! ) after a few games. And as another poster put, Palacios did show for the ball fom KS that ended up at Wharton's feet, who very sportingly obliged with a nice gentle pass back!

What a load of nonsense. This is tiresome to be honest. You’re not a “supporter” if you’re unsure of what you’ve seen of the keeper so far.

If people are getting on his back in the stadium that’s one thing. If people are discussing his performances on a message board that’s another.

If you look at the 10 goals conceded there’s quite obviously some issues there on quite a few of them.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

It was a terrible lazy pass from scherpen and it was lucky it didn't cost us. He also kicked the ball out of play at least 3 times I can remember when he was under no pressure at all. His kicking needs to improve and it hasn't been the best start. But, it is only 4 games and he has shown some good parts of his game as well, so deserves a bit more time before judgement totally. Hopefully more to come

It's not good to hear that a section of the crowd are on his back OR giving him grief on social media BUT I'm seeing reality being re-written. Since he's been here... he's been poor. That's a fact.

So far.... IMO ... he hasn't cost us points. I think we deservedly lost to Man U and Liverpool. Thats a team thing. And he's been on a winning side twice. So we don't need to go knee-jerk and replace him. Give him more time if it's a transition or confidence thing.

But why are so many going out of their way to excuse his performances? So when someone goes over the top in criticising him, the correct response is to go over the top in defending him? Just seems equally as incorrect.

They might have been difficult shots to save yesterday, but I've seen PL keepers make those saves. And, so far, he's been consistent in not saving difficult shots. I think he can improve his decision-making and his distribution... but I'm concerned a bit about his agility and reflexes. He's 6ft 9' .... I just think his height must be a factor in his movement as well as a being a positive in dealing with crosses.

I think the Scherpen pass, along with another 3/4 passes between players around that same stage of the game were more down to lack of gelling or understanding one another. As they play together more hopefully the mistakes/lack of understanding will improve

It's not those who are unsure of him or questioning parts of his performances so far. It's the one or two who have written him off already, describing him as sh!t, blaming him for non-existent errors and a blind refusal to accept the many positive aspects to his game that he has already shown us. Those "supporters" are the tiresome ones.

Agreed about the principle, but it is also happening in the grounds. Plenty of groans and mumbles around me at the Liverpool match and people blaming him for both goals. Crackers.

Well, it was very kind of Wharton to simply pass it straight back to Kjell.

We need to stick with him, plenty to like along with a few errors, but on balance I thinks he’s done ok and has potential to be very decent.

Distributions with feet need work, there were lots of balls into touch. But throws look very good.

The only Muff in Town.

One thing that was noticeable yesterday was that he hit the ball into touch on a few occasions.

Maybe the pitches in Holland are just that bit bigger to reflect the size of the players.

But better to hit it into touch rather than give it away, and I don't get the impression O'Neil wants us to play out from the back that much anyway.

I really dont agree. Lukic shows for it and then Scherpen plays it about about 5 yards the wrong side- regardless of preferred foot, it was the side the opponent was on, and so far off as to be immediately interceptable.
