Not being negative but my head tells me two defeats, however, we have beat Arsenal twice in the league cup but I think beating this squad will be a stretch too far.

Whilst I'd love a cup run it's not the end of the world if we lose tonight so long as we don't concede loads.

Saturday is an interesting one, Everton a very solid side tbh I'd take a point now but live in the hope of 3 especially as I'll be making the 9 hour round trip.

If we can get to 7 points by the break that will put us in a very good place before some very important upcoming games v Hull and Fulham.

When you look at the games through October, November and earlier in December we could go on a decent run, with the exception of say Manchester City there is no reason we cannot win those games, yes I said it out loud.

Arsenal second string should be too much for our b team. But I really hope the likes of Nunez, Kipre, Egeli step up and it’s a good and close game

As for Saturday - just can’t call it. When this Town team gets into its rhythm, and if it can eradicate these silly errors, it’s a bit of a nightmare to play against.

Everton are clear favourites with the bookies. And their defence and central midfield seem to be doing well. But perhaps the weakest number 9 we’ve faced. We have a decent chance. But yeah I’d do a Mick and take a point right now.

Also heading to the Hill Dickinson and can’t wait!

Focusing on tonight first.
Now the squad has started to settle into a starter finisher group for the first 4 games you might be inclined to think this second XI will be a bit more structurally familiar and familiar as a group of defenders, midfielders and forwards. There has a been a bit of time for this group to train for that familiarly. I hope for nothing less than a cohesive performance, which isnt always the case with rotation, if that brings a decent result great, let us not lose heavily because we could do with building resilience around PR no matter who the opposition.

Everton
I cant think that far ahead. Keep winning, not losing is the plan.

Would our first team beat an Arsenal second team, if so, play the first team. Which won't happen.

ALL of our players should always be up for playing any Arsenal side, I would like to think not one of our squad would want resting this evening unless carrying a knock and banging on Gary's door demanding to start the game and play the full game.

I was looking at the fixtures yesterday and thinking much the same. Caveat is, we need to make some hay over the next month or two because December looks quite brutal to me - the stretch between Coventry on the 2nd of December and Coventry on 6th January on paper could yield very little points.

As long as the pundits continue to write us off, "plucky little Ipswich" have a chance against Everton.

Would love to see Chuba, Sandre, Marcelino and co. all run riot tonight, so that's what I'll be expecting.

As it stands we are to play 5 more of the current bottom 7 in Oct and Nov, two sides in this pack we have already beaten.

Start of Dec we have Frank Lampards Coventry as well, then a very very difficult away game to Leeds who looked immense against Newcastle last night, seriously good.

It's interesting isn't it.

If you offered me a result in 1 of them I'd pick Everton, I'm sure most would. As boring as that is it has to be top priority, and will be.

Tonight Arsenal are 1/4 to go through, which probably says it all. We'll both make a lot of changes, but the disparity only grows as a result as they have ridiculous depth. Can't see past a spirited defeat.

Everton is a different kettle of fish. They also have a cup game tomorrow and their squad isn't where they would want it to be. With an additional day of rest to our advantage (albeit many starters on Saturday won't have played midweek) I think we're capable of getting a result there. Tough game, no doubt, but hopefully we can stay in it, that's going to be key to getting results. If we're 2 goals down to anyone at this level we'll lose every time. We'll need to play better than we did at Palace.

One of our better players could this morning have an accident chopping his avocado with a sharp knife. Injuries happen, it's a physical game.

Hang on, this sounds familiar...

You want to give yourself as big an advantage as possible going into Saturday though. PL games are high intensity and often fine margin - do you really want to be running Davis, Palacios, Enciso etc ragged tonight?

I think the thing above all else that’s impressed me the most is were winning games that we would’ve drawn two seasons ago. Our never say die approach and last minute winners reminds me of our initial promotion season from the championship

I don't know the figures so I'm going out on a limb here, but I reckon most footballers get injured playing football rather than chopping avocados.

You want to minimise the risk. The more matches you play, the more risk. And you should probably let your wag chop the avocados.

It's an actual thing...

Here are notable footballers who suffered injuries in the kitchen:

Dave Beasant: The goalkeeper dropped a heavy glass bottle of salad cream in his kitchen and tried to volley it with his bare foot like a football. The bottle shattered and severed a tendon in his big toe, causing him to miss two months of action.

Axel Tuanzebe: The former Manchester United defender nearly lost his thumb while washing dishes in the kitchen when a glass shattered in his hand, leaving him with a deep cut that required him to miss a match.

Kirk Broadfoot: While playing for Rangers, the defender tried to poach an egg in the microwave instead of a pot of boiling water. The egg exploded when he took it out, sending him to the hospital with severe scalding burns to his face.

Dave Barnard: The former Chelsea forward missed five months of football after slipping on a wet kitchen floor that his wife had just cleaned up after their puppy. He needed surgery for torn knee ligaments.

Sofiane Boufal: The Southampton midfielder suffered a freak toe injury when he ran through his kitchen and collided with the kitchen table.

I hope we put the ressies out for that very reason Flash. They need a game and we need the first team fit for Saturday. Tonight doesn’t matter result wise.

Saturday does. I’m not confident about the Everton game, but you never know. We might have a leaky defence, switch on an off, but we do have goals in us. The least I hope for is a good performance to take into the break.

The sort of game where we need to take real pride in defending our box and a clean sheet. Easier said than done but I'd love to see a really dogged, hard arsed defensive performance. O'Shea, Greaves and Diop bossing everything, silence the crowd, loads of housery. I'd almost rather a 1-0 win than 4-2. Stay in the game, get through that 1st half without conceding and win it with an Enciso worldie from 25 yards.

When your list starts with Dave Beasant then you know it doesn't happen very often.

I seem to remember Canizares missing a World Cup from dropping an aftershave bottle on his foot or something though.

For me, after we beat Palace the Everton game feels a bit of a free hit. Take anything from it and its a huge bonus, then all eyes on Fulham at home.

Last time in the PL i got hung up on games that we had no right in winning/competing in. I've learnt my lesson.

Man Utd, Liverpool... them results mean nothing to me. Watched a few world class players, and we had some really positive moments. Win win.

Before a ball was kicked, IMO, our season was to be defined by the games against: Coventry, Hull, Palace, Sunderland, Tottenham, Fulham. Collect as many points as we can in those games and we'd have a solid ground to build upon.

Highly doubt we beat Arsenal tonight, with out 1st 11 we might do ok, but we know both teams will be second string
