Not entirely true. Some random said we should do that. The presenter pointed out that not all asylum seekers are sex offenders so it couldn't happen.
Not really any more to do with GB News than someone coming out with something stupid on Question Time is representative of the BBC.

It's absolutely mind boggling to me how people like this walk about us. It would be easy to assume and state she must just be completely thick to come out with a statement like that. But the scary thing is I don't think she is. I always find it so much more repugnant and shocking when it isn't someone uneducated and just lacking basic intelligence. There is nothing to defend it. She is just a really bad person. And it's horrible that there are so many awful people now who are comfortable enough to announce their nasty thoughts as something acceptable.

I think that the 'freedom' that social media gave us to show our true, nasty, inhumane souls in an anonymous or semi-anonymous way, has conditioned society in such a way that it's no longer a shock when someone shows what a massive arsehole they are out in the open. |  |

Katie Hopkins rose to fame nearly 20 years ago amazingly. But it did take her another 6-7 to really hit her stride of absolute pure hate. And she probably only released her full on, all in racist in the last 10-12 years. | |

People like Hopkins target their rage at whatever is fashionable to attack. In the late 90s it was single mothers who apparently deliberately became pregnant to get a council houses. A few years after that it was disabled people and now its asylum seekers.
Without doubt the people who buy into it need someone else to blame for their inability to buy new stuff or to get to where they think they deserve to be. They believe that asylum seekers are given new shiny tracksuits and new iPhones and that they get everything which they ask for.
There’s little evidence for this, but it makes them feel better.
But if there’s a market for it, gobshites like that woman on gbeebies will be able to raise her voice. [Post edited 27 Sep 11:35]
