Odd take. | | | |

It's because of his self righteous side that I want him to fail. And he's not dedicated for the right reasons anymore. Shouldn't be anywhere near the Portugal team, but refuses to accept other players are better than him. Even in Saudi it all seems to be about him and not the team. Didn't he go on strike last season?

| Not really…. on 11:11 - Sep 30 by Bloots | ….he is (was) one of the greatest footballers in the history of the game. Many “modern” footballers have flawed personalities in one way or another, it shouldn’t impact or reflect their on-field legacy. His desire to win and single minded “selfishness” undoubtedly made him the fantastic player that he was. Personally I think that in his prime Ronaldo was better than Messi, but that’s just my opinion and not one I need to force onto others. |
Agree with everything in that post. Yes he could be a bit of an ass, especially when younger, but you will never find a more dedicated and focused professional. I've heard a few stories of the lengths he'd go to, to keep peak fitness levels up, very few would do that.

| Not really…. on 11:31 - Sep 30 by MattinLondon | The whole Messi v Ronaldo debate is quite tiresome and pointless. Both all-time greats but also different type of players. |
But the chanting of "Messi" by the crowd when Christiano's playing winds him up very nicely. Shame his reactions are less than savoury, and he's very lucky to get away with some of his gestures to the crowd in KSA.

| Ronaldo on 11:11 - Sep 30 by SE1blue | I don’t see him as a great. His selfishness and ego have cost his country dearly in recent years and a great would be able to put the collective before themselves in a team sport. Also can’t overlook some of his more serious off-field antics whatever work he’s done for charity. He had the potential to be a great, but he’s become a bit of an embarrassment with the tears and tantrums. |
Completely agree, cannot stand the petulant fool.
