Dolly reviews: Reflexology 14:28 - Jan 3 with 5487 views | Dolly2.0 | So we arrived at the place bang on time - they say on their website if you're more than 10 mins late you'll lose your appointment... but don't be early as there's no waiting room. Even the rather plain door that led down to this drab Holborn basement said "No loitering in doorway" on it. So not exactly welcoming. Maybe something they can work on. Also the decor once you're inside. Three rooms in a dark and dingy basement with just the odd 'foot chart' dotted about, I did wonder what I'd let myself in for and whether or not I'd end up chained to a wall for someone's sexual pleasure. I left my Converse in one of a number of cubby-holes containing various footwear, worryingly too many for the amount of treatment rooms, and was ushered into room number two. I laid on the massage-style bed and stared at the unlit strip lightbulb on the grey concrete ceiling as a pretty Eastern-European got down to business (the "15 minute consultation" turned out to be, "Any health problems? No? Ok." I guess you don't need any more than that). She spent about 25 minutes on each foot, prodding, pressing and pulling at the tiny muscles within, and it felt... very nice indeed. Very relaxing. Like a massage in miniature. I had some sharp pains in my big toes as she pressed - not painful enough to kick her in the head but noticeable. This area, apparently, is linked to the head. Maybe I'm not right in the head. By the end I found myself wishing it wouldn't end, and Lady Dollers, who went after me, said the same. It was my one year anniversary present to her and she concluded it was a wise choice and that we should go again. I left with a mini foot map chart in my pocket and a spring in my step. Whether it did anything more than a nice massage it's hard to say. Not sure I'd pay the full price of £75 for 45-50 mins. The £28 we paid was acceptable though. Reflexology, then. Nice. Pleasant. Relaxing. And not, as a mate quipped beforehand, a degree in the works of Duran Duran.

I'm not really a massage person, I tense up when they put their grubby hands on me. Having said that I had an unbelievable massage in China at a blind massage parlour (All the masseuses were blind). I was tempted to have a "Soapy" in Pattaya once but after a minute of head turmoil my marital vows got the better of me and I opted out.

This is the lifestyle of the Brixton metrosexuals who pay £90 for sausage and mash. And to think back around 50 years to the song sung in playgrounds across south London about Brixton. .......
