14 days of the window left and we still look light. Hurst didn't rule out a return for Carayol. Anyone think he might be a squad filler if the window closes and we've not got another winger in? I know we'd have the loan window but I could see this happening.

“There’s been no contact regarding him and in all honesty I’ve kind of got the targets in mind.

“He’s a player, like you say, who fits the bill in a lot of ways but again I’m maybe just trying to freshen things up. Never say never but at the minute I’ve got other players in mind.”

Hurst Not After Shrews Pair, No Return for Carayol or McGoldrick as Town Linked With Tilt 25th Jun 2018 12:42
Blues boss Paul Hurst says there’s nothing in reports linking him with a return to his former club Shrewsbury to sign midfielder Jon Nolan and defender Aristote Nsiala, while he confirmed that winger Mustapha Carayol and striker David McGoldrick won’t be back with the Blues for the season ahead. 15

When Carayol was actually on the pitch for us he mostly looked pretty good and occasionally devastating.
I think he could be very useful for us, obviously dependent on him being and staying fit.

Sounds like;

"If we are still short of a winger an hour before the window closes, Mustapha will be my first call!"

I suppose if he does not get fixed up in the next couple of weeks his wage expectations might lower?

I hope not.

I do wonder why no-one else wants him!

If we signed him on lowish wages with a 'pay if you play' clause then I wouldn't be too worried.

30 minutes of decent contribution, then injured for 6 games.

No thanks.

I have a feeling that before Hurst (and ME ) resort to players like him, they will try the loan market.

There are going to be a lot of Prem players not wanted by their clubs soon.

Would I like to see this happen?..... yes!

Do I think it would work out? probably not.

Would be more like the Dyer or Dozzell returns.

Especially once all the World Cup players come back and get back to match fitness.

The loan window to the end of August could be interesting.
