It's not a political point It's a money tree point....we can all be unified now in the knowledge that they do exist. I do realise that realising that the Emperor had no Clothes all along can be a little unsettling. Edit...it looks like they still don't pay rent though! [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 18:24]

We are borrowing extortionate amounts in order to prop up businesses - usually this kind of approach would have the economy blacklisted but these are desperate times which require desperate measures.

This is an unprecedented time and frankly the government are doing the best they can under very challenging circumstances. The damned if they do damned if they don’t approach isn’t helpful. The government announcement today is very welcome. Will help many families.

I really don't....people will come out of this with a new understanding of how much they have been bullsh1tted to for decades. Also hopefully a whole lot less selfish and more aware of community and interconnectedness so all in all I am a veritable bundle of positivity. [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 18:32]

They are not borrowing, they are just printing money If they don't the whole system will go. Last time it was given to banks who pocketed it. This time it has to go to people to help them stay afloat. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They still don't exist. We're chopping the tree down to get enough wood to keep the pot boiling, in the hope that one of the seeds will begin to sprout once this is all over. But it will be some time even then before we have a fruitful tree once more.

Should I change it to....I applaud the current government for further reinforcing their recent discovery of the money tree...they now acknowledge it exists even when the roots are dead. (Except if you have rent to pay.) There are a lot of cats that will never be stuffed back in bags after this....even the dead bouncing ones.

Some of the branches were, but the central core is the basis upon which people have been making, producing, servicing and trading since the dawn of human civilisation. Destroy that at your peril.

What other types are there, other than gnarled old hunter-gatherer individualism? Even socialism and anarchism are just different ways of pruning and training the same tree. The basis of society and commerce remains the same - I do stuff for you, you give me stuff in return, I lend you money so you can buy stuff to sell, or set up the means to make things, then you pay me back afterwards.

Don't worry, in the real world I am pulling....but you know when you have been shouting self evident truths your whole life and people have had their fingers in their ears! Well the fingers are out now and they need to start fukken listening.

There'll be plenty of time for that afterwards. Whatever the rights and wrongs, we're all in this together.

Money trees... on 20:10 - Mar 17 with 1927 views | ghostofescobar | I think that the recent budget was nothing other than high hypocrisy. It was doing exactly what Labour have been saying should be done for years i.e. spending to kick start the economy. It was Labour in Conservative clothing. Nothing more, nothing less. It was doing what the Tories specifically argued should not be done. Basically they lied, and they wanted to try and keep (buy) Labour votes. Today was different. Today was a direct response to the COVID issue. Don’t confuse the two.

This is also the real world with real people. And most of your posts are cheap, highly questionable, point scoring efforts, or drip drip of innuendo. Just stop it.
