Our EU friends 13:16 - Apr 10 with 6630 views | BlueNomad | The German Army are bringing us ventilators. Is the irony of this lost on the little-England, bigoted, “two world wars and one World Cup, let’s get Brexit done, Brussels dictatorship” crowd? Ok - rhetorical question. Thank you Germany and EU for your continued friendship despite the ill-will expressed by people allegedly acting in my name.

Our EU friends on 13:29 - Apr 10 with 2590 views | monytowbray | I saw this last night. My instant reaction was LOL as that’s all you can do. “Cutting nose off in spite of face” was a phrase I used a lot in relation to Brexit. Now we have immigrants dying to save our lives and Farage/Hopkins/Tommeh have gone very quiet on the xenophobic-to-those-on-our-doorstep front. Imagine how much better equipped we’d be if we paid junior doctors well and didn’t actively try to put foreign health workers off from coming here?

It was that thing they did to their good pair of jeans before they went down the pub one Friday in late January to sing God Save The Queen and listen to a recording of Big Ben chime, wasn’t it?

It’s a country that are being good to us after we decided to waver free movement to work in each other’s nations and hamper trade with. I feel the post is still relevant. We p1ssed on a lot of doorsteps with Brexit and when you see news like this it makes me wonder how the British population managed to lose so much humanity. Then I remember the answer to that question is years of neoliberalism causing social problems that can be blamed on foreigners. [Post edited 10 Apr 2020 15:21]

The EU invited us to join in their purchasing programme for equipment remember. Whether it is Germany on its own or the whole EU providing ventilators the fact is we had daily rhetoric about our European friends and how we could do better without them, they need us more than we need them etc. Sickening.

We let nationalism dictate human life and death of “our own race” if you want to go down that route of embedded racism, and that is frankly disgusting. Boris Is Doing A Great Jobâ„¢ï¸

I don’t love the EU either, but we haven’t just shat on the EU, but also all the nations that we’re meant to be an ally of. And then in hour our of need one of them has sent us some ventilators. We don’t really deserve it with the way our nation has acted in recent years.

The supply of these ventilators have nothing to do with Brexit or EU membership. Which was the op’s point. And subsequently yours. I could point out to people who are calling people who voted for Brexit thick as sh1t are the same people who voted for a man who wanted to disband NATO. Irony hey?

I think the UK. have treated European countries fine. We bailed Republic of Ireland out after 2008 we didn't have to as they were Eurozone. Its how European countries treated Italy , Spain & Greece. Italy got PPE supllies from Russia & China.

My point was about jingoism, “We’ll be fine on our own because of our history” etc - as you well know but it gives you the chance to show how clever you are and how thick we are. If you think NATO is operating as some superior partnership in this crisis I give you USA v Canada! [Post edited 10 Apr 2020 18:25]

Don’t put yourself down. I don’t think you are thick. I just think you are a political opportunist who is using this dreadful pandemic to score a few cheap political points and failing miserably.

This has become your catchphrase. It’s okay to admit you may have misjudged your political voting habits over the last 10 years. We’d respect you more for it. [Post edited 10 Apr 2020 18:27]

Our EU friends on 18:30 - Apr 10 with 2080 views | Swansea_Blue | Only 60 is still peeing in the wind. I wonder how much difference the EU procurement scheme will have made. It'll be interesting to see what happens when those orders start materialising compared to what we manage without. That's probably a true test of what we can achieve as an "independent nation" [Gove, about 2 weeks ago].
