For perspective, 350000 people in the UK work in aviation and it's infrastructure. SB

You can add this: Hospitality (thousands are likely to loose their jobs) Retail (will continue to struggle short, medium and long term - mainly high street non-supermarket shops etc.) Infrastructure (Construction/ Engineering as well) (many large scale projects are stalled/ cancelled) We are seeing clients in these industries that have already had job losses and/ or are gearing up accordingly. Spoke with a client yesterday - they've asked their 4,500 staff to take a 20% reduction in hours and wages in the hope they can keep all their staff on - if business doesn't pick up - they are looking at 40% to 60% job losses. We expect to take a sizeable hit, though it will only be hundreds rather than thousands, who knows? Virgin used to be 40% of our business, they're less than 5%, Emirates are probably in excess of 30%.... In recent years we'd grown cruise line business... For me personally, I need Team America and the global banks to require our services or I'm fckd.

Indeed. This is just the beginning, but some people still think we should stay in indefinite lock-down.

Even if we pull back the current restrictions - it isn't going to be like turning the tap back on for the economy. For many businesses, income literally stopped overnight but it won't return the same way, sadly. Whether we reduce those restrictions now or in 6 weeks is now rather moot. It's already too late for many businesses. Take Hotels - they look to run a profit at 80%+ occupancy - there is no way you are going to see that kind of level of occupancy in the next 6 to 9 months regardless of a reduction in restrictions.

I would agree that the travel & hospitality industry is facing a bleak outlook, whether lockdown continues or not. As you say, this will have huge adverse multiplier effects on the economy. That's yet another reason to start easing some of the lockdown conditions as the country needs to generate some income from other sectors.

Not sure it's that simple a correlation. Sweden have been much more open for business than us but have recorded pretty much just as big a hit on their economy.

Travel-related businesses are going to be suffering irrespective of the state of lockdown as tourism has pretty much ceased & won't be coming back soon.

That's hit us big-time, as the main bulk of our clients were in the travel/tourism/sightseeing sector - brochure design and related marketing materials... no knowing when or if that will pick up again, and whether those clients will still be in business themselves - including those we've done a major part of the work for their next brochure that haven't been paid for yet. Hopefully they'll survive, as they'll need us to complete the work and we can then get paid!
