Returning to school 14:43 - Jun 4 with 1928 viewsBluefish

I know this has been a worrying topic for some so I thought I'd share my feedback following our school returning this week and my visit yesterday. We are a Junior school so years 3-6 we've been open for keyworkers but extended to year 6 this week. 108 year 6 returned to add to 60ish others (fluctuates daily). The children are now split in to classes of up to 15 with social distancing measures and yesterday I visited to review the situation and had the chance to talk to teachers and pupils. It has been an overwhelming success, the children were happy and told me how pleased they were to be able to return, they said they wanted to be there and preferred it to being at home. The class sizes and the distancing made the class rooms a joy with real focused learning and impeccable behaviour. The children stay within the same classroom throughout the day.

I would absolutely send my children back to school

I just hope no-one flushed his head down the bog on the first day back.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

What a surprise you trot out this one, and ignore everyone else making similar jokes.

Good to know you think people going back to study later in life is a bad thing and worthy of ridicule, kind of shows you up really. I'm pretty happy with the decision myself, and the increase in wages.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

For those whose kids have gone back to school....how about this. by homer_123 3 Jun 2020 14:13
I posted a response to a thread a while back saying that I respected those that chose not send their kids back and I respected those that did. There isn't really a right option.

However, I'm extremely disappointed and livid with my school.

As parents my wife and I made an 'informed' decision about sending one of ours back. This was primarily based on a detailed letter received from the school spelling out exactly their approach and primarily how many would be in a class and who, specifically, they would be in a class with.

It was our child's first day back today. We receive a text message from the school around 11.30 today explaining that the 'bubble' our child was in has been changed.

Not only are there now 3 more children in it than they said there would be but our child is now in a class with completely different children. Moreover, the child they walked to school with this morning (who was supposed to be in the same class) is now in a different class!

So, you make a decision, as best you can, given there is an element of risk sending them back and the school go and do this.

For f*cks sake - we've tried extremely hard to be sensible and follow all the suggested guidelines and do our bit during this crisis and then get screwed over. Having called the school and spoken to the Head (who was rather dismissive), it was explained that they didn't think it would be a problem as the 'bubble' will now stay that way going forward.

That maybe the case but I explained that our original decision was based on certain numbers and children in the bloody class - it was somewhat lost on the Head.

Anyone else had similar issues?

Rant over and I appreciate that some may feel I over reacting here......

the bubbles have had to changed with fluctuating demand. Seems reasonable to me. It isn't an easy task to arrange

Yep, appreciate it's not easy but in our instance we were told who would be in our child's class and how many.

So, given both of these, for us were incorrect, our informed decision was not exactly informed.
