Clumsiness doesn’t, in itself, mean that a red card will be rescinded. You could argue that a clumsy tackle is dangerous as that indicates that a player was out-of-control. But It wasn’t a dangerous or hard tackle and so only a very incompetent organisation would uphold the original red card......three match ban it is then.

Are there actually any camera angles other than the ‘normal’ one in the highlights though? It looked harsh but putting bias aside its difficult to really say from the video, and if the ref is saying he went high over the ball then I don’t see any way it would get overturned without something clearly showing it really was an innocuous challenge

Indeed. When you consider Toto's red at Sheff Weds wasn't overturned, we've got no chance with this one.

The only thing that angle shows is that Dozzell is obviously shoved in the back before making the tackle, but agree the angle makes it unclear other than that and the ref will just get his side of the story backed up.

Truth is we don’t really know either, flip that camera 90 degrees and you may look at it and it may look an absolute shocker

I think the telling thing was none of their players even raised an eyebrow.

It eon't get overturned, same as with Trotter and Stead beforehand. The push is the only thing that might help, especially as Dozzell goes over but not forward but I doubt it.
