Furlough looks to be extended until March... 12:01 - Nov 5 with 1185 views | Swailsey | Presumably that means they envision another lockdown coming/this one being extended/would allow them to dip in and out as they see fit? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54824120

| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Furlough looks to be extended until March... on 12:24 - Nov 5 with 1072 views | ElderGrizzly | The National Lockdown might end on 2nd Dec, but we will likely see Tier 4 local lockdowns once we do come out. Planning within our Govt dept is expecting significant disruption until May 2021
Furlough looks to be extended until March... on 12:26 - Nov 5 with 1068 views | TheTrueBlue1878 | I think some scientist in the paper yesterday wrote they anticpate 3 peaks from coronavirus, whether that was minimum or not I didn't read. But that would fit in with maybe another cirucit breaker around feb/march time after XMAS.

Furlough looks to be extended until March... on 13:35 - Nov 5 with 913 views | MonkeyAlan | Too late for a lot of people. My Mrs was made redundant a week before he announced it would be extended for November. Now it's till next March. She may well have kept her job in spring as her work really picks up that time of year. Oh well, long as Boris and his crew don't have to sign on, that's all that really matters isn't it?!

Furlough looks to be extended until March... on 13:51 - Nov 5 with 862 views | Herbivore | I wonder if we might end up doing a month on and a month off or similar. I doubt there's any science behind it, but that hasn't stopped the government before and people being able to booze in December plays well to the crowd.

They can, but they don't seem to want to. I think firms have become far too sceptical about it all now. They don't know where it will all end, so certainly where my Mrs works no one is being reinstated.
Furlough looks to be extended until March... on 16:47 - Nov 5 with 712 views | Harry_Palmer | Yes this certainly suggests the four week lockdown will not be the end of it. I get that public opinion and that of this board is largely behind this lockdown but I suspect for many that was based on it being only four weeks. It will be interesting to see if people are still just as keen if we are still going in and out of lockdown in February and March.

It's almost certain we will be having further lockdowns over the winter given the way C19 spreads inside with poor ventilation. As soon as things are opened up again the R will rise and when we hit a certain amount there will be another lockdown. Winter has the potential to be absolutely awful if it's not managed. Germany have already extended their furlough to the end of 2021 I believe? SB [Post edited 5 Nov 2020 16:58]
