What’s VAR?
Is it Lambert’s new nickname?
VAR out...and say sorry to Phil.

Well i'd have to agree with that. Although i've now moved on to the conclusion that football is already ruined without VAR.

VAR is NOT the problem. The rules are the problem. Think of how many contentious decisions there would be without VAR.

I take it you're referring to the Leeds penalty decision? VAR was correct, but the rule is wrong.

Never mind, by the time it actually affects us it will be something hideously & infinitely worse.
It will result in Jack Lancaster’s blue and white army being harshly relegated from the top division by Man City’s E team.

The constant fuss and entitlement is what's wrong, which VAR is there to lessen the effect of.

So it's a big problem.

This pandemic has proved the concept of "the football family" is a complete crock of sh@t.

If I didn't have a hooky streaming website than I can watch most of it on I probably wouldn't bother. I wouldn't pay for it.

You can’t separate them though.

The minuscule offsides, or keeper being an inch off his line a second before the ball is kicked, have always been there. They just weren’t noticed until a computer starting studying every square inch of the pitch.

VAR is great for applying the minutiae and letter of the law but completely loses the spirit of them and is killing the sporting spectacle IMHO. Who wants to watch a man watching a screen at the side of the pitch to establish if the defender brushed the attacker’s toenail? It’s just insane.

Apart from handball, completely agree with you that the rule is the main problem there, albeit one massively exacerbated by VAR.

This.

I watch Premier league from time to time via online streams as football fan but not in a million years would I pay for it, whether it be Sky, BT, Amazon etc.

I find it very difficult to sit down and watch a full game of football on TV these days that doesn't involve ITFC, the interest has definitely waned.

I agree that VAR is pedantic, but I see all these pundits complaining about having VAR in the Premier League, and I just want to tell them to come watch the standard of refereeing in L1. I'd rather have VAR, than not. Ultimately it gives the correct decisions, it's just very black and white.

Fair enough, I don’t agree but can see why you would think that.

I just think it takes away far more than it gives. There’s no putting the genie back in now though, it’s here to stay.
