I remember going to the Reggiana and Salernitana games, and remember Adam Tanner scoring a really fine header late on to beat the former. All very good fun at the time, til we played Port Vale and were turned over anyway. | |

I went to the Brescia game with a mate as we both worked at Stansted Airport and got cheap Air UK tickets to Milan. When we finally got to the ground there was a handful of Town Supporters outside we asked when the coaches would be arriving and were told there were no official trips. David Sheepshanks arrived and shook everyone hand (cant see ME doing this) before going in. He came back out and said that he and both boards were "going for a pint" (Gods honest truth this is a true story) So we all went down the road to a tiny bar. Sheepshanks went in and ordered bottles of beer that were passed out as we could not all get in the bar. No sooner had we drunk the beer than a second bottle came out that we were told was paid for by Brescia. We finished our drinks and went back to the stadium for KO. If my memory serves me correctly there was about twenty of us. Scroll forward to the San Siro a few years later there was more like 20K. I cant remember much about the game but if I can find it I have a Brescia Newspaper from the next day |  |

Of course in those days cup competitions were treated with respect by managers. The home game against Regianna was the first time I ever Sat in the North Stand - I was 12. Craig Forrest came out to warm up early for the second half, I tried to get his attention to get his autograph, when he noticed, he ushered me on to the pitch, I got it and an extra helping of “who the f@eking hell are you” for my troubles too, I remember doing a little bow and then getting a warmer reception. TWTD.
My only other vague memory is some weird half time competition involving Yokohama tyres - but that may be conflating two non event cup competitions... | | | |
