There seems like a lot of players in the lower leagues that look impressive, even if their teams lack a dispersal of talent.
For me, I would love to take a punt on Dion Charles from Stanley. Solid goal scorer and moves well. At 25 he's got a lot of potential to grow into, and this year has had his debut with Northern Ireland's senior team.
Enjoy footage of him scoring a smashing volley, as well as doing a simply little dink in the build up to the second.
He’s linked with Brentford, so I think there is near-to-no chance of getting him.
A few players I can see us being linked with (all free agents):
Connor Ogilvie left back at Gillingham. Fejiri Okenabirhie Striker at Doncaster. Maxime Biamou Striker at Coventry. Joe Wright big centre back at Doncaster. Wes Burns winger at Fleetwood.

Joe Wright is a really solid call. We need a solid defender at the back who can do ugly well.
As for our man being linked to Brentford, I am not surprised. He's a joy to watch and could have a big future in the game.
It's a conundrum. We need proven lg1 players to get out of this league. They need to be better than we've got and need to be physically strong. If we actually get promotion this season then lg1 players are not really the answer re:Hurst as they will get us relegated. Saying that, this current bunch of lightweights won't do for the championship either.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Wes Burns looked a step above Edwards when he played against us.

It's a fine balance we need to strike of players who are at the top end of league one but can also cut it in the Championship. I don't think any of our signings since we've been in L1 would cut it in the Championship (KVY is still a slight unknown).
I said a few days ago we've got to look at some experienced players who may be released by championship clubs. FWDs- Matt Smith- Millwall Frazier Campbell- Huddersfield
MIDs- Ryan Tunnicliffe- Luton (a midfield with a bit of bite) Lee Evans- Wigan Jordan Shipley- Coventry
DEFs- Tommy Rowe- Bristol City (brother of Danny, can also play as a left winger) Murray Wallace- Millwall Eoghan O'Connell- Rochdale (perhaps the only punt I'd take from L1)
Some might be a little unrealistic in terms of wages but I think Cook has some pulling power. We just need to back him.

Dion Charles will be into bigger and better things than us.
You make good calls. Although think Fleetwood have an extension on Wes Burns.
Other than names to add to your good list: Gavin Massey - Wigan - RM Tendayi Darikwa - Wigan - RB Paul Mullin - Cambridge - ST Terrell Thomas - Wimbledon - CB - previously worked with Cook Eoghan O’Connell - Rochdale - CB Kyle Knoyle - Cambridge - RB - he is the definite one I’d be taking. Had a terrific season.
