Scotland will put up a better display than Croatia, we can’t afford to take them lightly because they do have some decent players in their squad regardless of their result today. I thought Croatia were quite ordinary against us on Sunday, but true to form a huge overreaction, it’s like England have beaten the best side in world football, where in reality they’ve beaten an ageing Croat side that’s well past it’s best. Friday’s game will be a very interesting watch.

I'd be surprised if Scotland don't finish bottom of the group. The derby nature of the Eng/Scot match could throw up a surprise I suppose, but this Scotland team are not the best. Their ponderous play reminded me of us from what I saw of the game this afternoon. They also know that today was their best chance to pick up any points - you could tell from the reaction afterwards.

We have won an opening game for the first time ever in this tournament.

We would have settled for a draw and called it a positive.

This is a big deal as things stand so far.

Don’t think the over reaction is that great , we beat a dangerous side who are past their best to win our first group game, played quite well but room for improvement

7/10 performance to play us into the tourney. Haven’t seen too many going overboard

Are they dangerous? 2 or 3 years ago I would agree, but they aren’t that side anymore. Realistically, I doubt many would have them making the QFs of this competition.

I think we will see the Southgate system on Friday, Changing the side depending on opponent. Trippier out, Shaw in to provide more attacking threat on the left side, for example.

I can see us hurting Scotland, their backline looked quite slow and sluggish today, if that's their best, Foden, Sterling etc can have a field day.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

While I agree Scotland won't be pushovers, Croatia still have more quality in almost every position compared to them.

I also don't agree that people have overreacted to the performance on Sunday. I think everyone is just happy England comfortably won a game against the toughest team in the group (on paper). Definite room for improvement, but nothing too concerning yet.

You’re entitled to your opinion, like we all are but off the top my head McTominany, Tierney and Robertson would walk into that Croat side and improve it.

McTominany is nowhere near any of the Croatian midfield.

Robertson would get in I agree. Tierney would probably make it if he wasn't constantly injured.

The way he finished the season, McTominany is one of United’s best midfielders and he wouldn’t improve that Croatian midfield? Yeah, ok?! 🙄

A good finish to the season doesn't mean he's better than World Class Modric, CL winner Kovacic, or Serie A winner Brozovic.

I'm sorry but you're kidding yourself if you think McTominay is better than any of them. He might be one day, but he isn't yet.

Trippier will play every single game for us this tournament, barring suspension or injury.

We’ll see. It’s not just his end to the season, he’s been one of United’s best midfielders this season and a real driving force. He actually offers something different than all those Croatian midfielders and I still believe he would improve them regardless of the team accolades those players have won. Imagine him with his energy, winning tackles and driving them forwards in that midfield, it’s something they lack.

So 8 Croatia players would walk into the Scotland team and instantly improve it?

Interesting spin.

We’ve just comfortably beaten the World Cup finalists where as Scotland have just lost to a bang average team in their back garden.

I’m not saying that England performance was special. It was comfortable and we didn’t move through the gears.

Scotland should never be under estimated as it’s a local derby but nothing that I’ve seen over the past 2 days tell me that England shouldn’t be ok.

We’ll find out Friday. One thing is for sure the game will be a different proposition to Sunday, the rivalry will certainly have an impact.

Croatia have been the poorest team in the group so far. Scotland were poor at the back but on the balance of play they deserved a point. Czechs were very well organised and England were comfortable.

Not alarmed by what I saw today both sides looked vulnerable. I suspect we can do better with the ball, not by miles but more than enough.

Not sure I really buy this 'ageing' Croatia thing I keep seeing tbh, unless it's just based on Modric. They should largely be a side hitting their prime when you look at the respective ages, arguably more so than us. Of their 15 players used against us only 3 of them were in their 30's. One being Modric, a regular for Real Madrid and another being Perisic, who at 32 is still class, and a regular at Inter who just won Serie A.

I thought England played well, I agree there's no reason to get too carried away and on a different day that could quite easily have been a draw, but the expectation on England is so high. That was a good performance and result against the WC finalist from 3 years back and winners of a tough qualifying group.

I would still back Croatia to qualify from the group.

I dunno where the idea that the Croats are an "ageing" side has come from, most of their starters are peak age for a footballer.

They have one proper veteran, Modric, who's brilliant anyway.

I agree! It’s almost as if some people are saying we beat them just because they are a ‘bad’ side.
Never mind onwards and upwards hopefully 😀
