The 'Great' Australia/UK trade deal on 10:56 - Jun 15 with 1614 views | artsbossbeard | It's being reported in certain quarters that this arrangement makes it easier for the under 35's to live and work in Oz - anyone confirm this to be the case? I always thought it was a reasonably easy process anyway but if it does make things easier, that's a positive. Not a working and living anywhere in the EU kinda positive but a positive none the less. Also, Tim-Tams freely available in the UK. Up yours, Penguin Biscuits.

I'm sure Liz Truss is delighted with getting this one over the line, but it's pretty insignificant isn't it. Barely makes a dent in the losses on the other side of the scales. Ah well, we are where we are and all that.

Any info about Coon Cheese? I'm astonished that got through Gav's unacceptable language filter. Is Water Butt Monthly aware? [Post edited 15 Jun 2021 11:16]

The 'Great' Australia/UK trade deal on 11:18 - Jun 15 with 1534 views | HARRY10 | Whatever checks there on UK meat entering NI, they are just about to be ratcheted up to N Korean levels of border scrutiny. It will be up to the UK to clearly prove that any meat product...pies, burgers, sausages etc does not contain meat from Australia, and any other country the UK waves the white flag at. Some may recall the devastating effects Foot and Mouth had on UK beef exports. This removes the choice for many consumers, as any pies, burgers, sausages which do contain Australian meat will not carry warning labels (fit for brexiteers only) on them, so this stuff will be on the supermarket shelves, with shoppers being none the wiser. Of course we have the word of Johnson, the competence of Truss and the honesty of Gove to assure us that this will not be the case

It's being reported that there's something in it about making it easier for Brits to move down there, but I have seen any details. It would be a minor positive, for sure.

The requirement of 'backpackers' to work on a farm etc for 88 days to get a longer visitors visa may be removed Which is a massive compensation for having the right of ALL UK citizens to work, travel and live in the EU without restriction ended Something you would have to be incredibly thick (a brexiteer) to imagine was a balanced trade off.

After Brexit, Britain is great again, but just in case, we will make it easier to get the flock out. I think that’s the message?
The 'Great' Australia/UK trade deal on 06:50 - Jun 16 with 1118 views | HARRY10 | Well there's a shock. On the scale of, nobody thought today would be Wednesday, after yesterday was Tuesday "The UK government said British farmers would be protected by a cap on tariff-free imports for 15 years, using tariff rate quotas and other safeguards. " Tues 15th June "Tariffs will be scrapped immediately on imported beef and lamb from Australia - as Australian farmers will effectively be handed tariff-free access from day one, up to a “cap” on sales that is 60 times the current level of imported beef." Weds 15th June In May we were warned that 'Australia’s biggest cattle farmer has predicted that the nation’s beef exports to the UK could rise as much as tenfold if the two countries strike a free-trade deal.' It is not 10 times the amount but 60, with no adjustment period. Perhaps someone could post up a photo of a field with a Vote Leave poster in it

It’s removed the requirement to work on agricultural land as part of the 2 year working visa. Why would Australian farmers import beef here when they can get double the price for it on the Asian market ( even excluding China ). We don’t even import enough NZ lamb for it to become tariff free currently ( Spectator podcast confirms this ).

I doubt any Aus farmers will be importing beef, they will be exporting it in far bigger amounts to the UK. I am not sure what your guff about NZ lamb is, as the deal is with AUS, not NZ

update Beef prices have risen globally due to the pandemic - and in China, also due to a switch away from the consumption of pork as it is affected by swine flu. 'Australia is reportedly hosting its smallest cattle inventory for over 30 years, due to drought and subsequent de-stocking. Following more favourable conditions in 2020, many producers are now replenishing their herds' that being the temporary increase in export prices. As to We don’t even import enough NZ lamb for it to become tariff free currently , it is clear that you haven't the slightest idea about any of this and have just regurgitated some nonsense from the Spectator. Imports do not become tariff free when a large enough amount are imported - that should be self-explanatory. Because of a similar drought to Australia, NZ lamb production has fallen, with farmers switching to dairy. What your post demonstrates, is how many are willing to churn out obvious nonsense in the delusion that it somehow defends brexit. I can only wonder if your sort would be happy to have the same level of 'misinformation' used in a court case against you.
