Think its probably down to the licensing for that competition isn't it?

That's annoying, I was intending on paying £10 to watch it on iFollow. One thing to protect the rights later in the competition but, at this stage, doubt there is much external interest in this game. |  |

It could also come down to what the competition will allow. You and I were both intending on watching via iFollow, along with I assume thousands of others.
The competition may well see low attendances in the initial rounds and figure that at home viewing will affect attendance, even though we all know, none of us would have gone anyway. | |

Massive point if you're outside the UK. I saw about two dozen matches between 2000 and 2016, but have seen almost every one since then. Well worth the $185 a year in the US. In the UK the value seems much more limited which is a shame. I understand they don't want to discourage people from attending matches but those who actually go to matches go for much more than just to see some football and I think most would still go if it was on. There are thousands that were never going to go anyway who might toss a tenner in to watch he game which it seems has to be a net positive for the club.
Not having the League Cup seems bizarre though. Aren't both IFollow and the League Cup run by the EFL? Seems they would push it hard on their platform. |  | | |
