Starmer’s 35th relaunch 09:37 - Aug 22 with 1559 views | Darth_Koont | So depressingly empty and weak. And he “might” move away from his leadership pledges!!!? He’s never been anywhere near them.

Nothing wrong with that per se. But photo ops seem to be the limit. The primary colours are red, blue and yellow – which are appropriate because it looks like it’ll just be continued posturing within the same party political bubble.

Mine doesn’t look like that so I missed it. 😀 Although I did see someone on Twitter complaining about Starmer swanning around in Paris, which was amusing.

Starmer’s 35th relaunch on 12:13 - Aug 22 with 1337 views | thebooks | Aye, all very depressing. Seems like he has no plan, vision etc. beyond rehashing Blair. Even to the extent of using the Observer as his mouthpiece and employing people like Deborah Mattinson. Blairism arose at a very specific moment in time, and was a response to that. Reapplying it to a completely different set of circumstances is plain odd. How long do we give him?

His problem could be if the Tories choose someone semi-competent to replace Johnson.

I would have said Javid but I think he’s been holed under the waterline now he’s accepted the Health role. I think he could challenge Starmer though.

People are fed up of competence. They want soundbites and the odd bit of Latin.

Indeed. Barely landing a glove on the worst Tory government ever ... Our politics and political debate are pretty much non-existent now.

I wish he'd actually join in the debate every once in a while, actually tell us why he supports the Tories and why we've got it wrong in seeing them as a bunch of self-serving incompetents.

Minus 14 months. I think as a serious opposition leader fighting for the country’s best interests he’s been next to useless from the start. But a great leader for showing New New Labour are not a threat to the establishment or capital. So perfect for the Labour right and the hundreds of Labour MPs who want to line their pockets. In government or opposition, makes little difference.

The problem you have here koonters is that you highlight the failings of the Labour Party, and those of the leader of the Labour Party leader, for failing to make any headway against the current Tory government. You will get a few left leaning posters agreeing that you raise a valid point but will then spend a couple of pages saying how sh1t Johnson is and the Tories are, and before you know it everyone is patting each other on the back and forgetting to address the point you raised in the first place. Meanwhile the Tories rub their hands and look forward to another five years in power. I’m very pissed by the way but thought I’d throw my tuppence in.

You’re not wrong. But in the absence of any substantive policies, direction or competing narrative, Labour and their fanboys are largely passengers nowadays.
