And another thing! Playing passing football from the back.... 22:46 - Dec 15 with 626 views | Dubtractor | If we are going to persist with this as we have tried to all season, and I think we should, then it simply has to be Edmundson and Woolfenden. Toto and Burgess are so unsuited to it that it becomes almost funny to watch teams play against it. Both are decent enough stoppers, though not exactly perfect, but Toto looks almost scared with the ball, and I've not seen a CB aimlessly shank the ball as often as Burgess in the 2 games against Barrow. Woolfenden hasn't had a great couple of seasons, but I think overall he is a better bet than those 2.

First half we tried very hard to, but failed dismally, hence barely getting into their half. Second half we went much more direct, with still almost no success at all.

Think JM realised halfway through first half that Toto and Burgess aren't very good at it.

Because Cook didn’t think we’d need them, our attacking players would blitz everyone and Morsy would clean up behind them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Because we can't do it with Nsiala and Burgess. They are big lumps and not very good big lumps at that.

As long as it's directed long ball, not aimless hoofing followed by random head-tennis - which often results in an advantage for the opposition, as they're already facing in the direction they need to go in order to score. We'd need players able to really accurately place a ball way up the pitch, possibly on a long diagonal, plus others able to sit onside of the last defender, outpace them, control the ball and put in a good cross, with finally forwards and AMs willing to race into the box and and throw themselves at those crosses, or to pick up rebounds and clearances.

Anyone actually time how many minutes we spent in Barrow's half in the first 45? 1? 2?!

Sounds so easy when you put it like that! (not meant as a criticism).

I did wonder, but thought it might be taken as a silly exaggeration if I started off that low!
