The more I watch the Morsy incident 21:14 - Jan 24 with 3109 viewsCheltenham_Blue

The more I hope The FA watch it more than once.

Viewed once it looks like a punch, but each time you watch it, you realise its a shove to the shoulder following Morsy being held himself. Before Hamilton hits the deck holding his face.

Hamilton should be on a charge of attempting to con the officials. Should be dismissed in my opinion.

I think it will depend on whether there's any other footage apart from the one we've all seen.

Certainly every time I've seen it, it's not that high res. You can see Morsy's arm shoot out to him and the guy goes down like he's been shot.

But I can't see either way. Shove/punch...push/defensive parry

What I do see is Morsy raise his hand towards their player. I know in the normal course of life it's innocent until proven guilty. But I think with FA charges it's the other way around. The FA have decided to pursue it so it's up to Morsy and the club to prove innocence.

The footage as I see it is inconclusive. And that plays against us. Because the FA have decided there is a charge to answer. It becomes about intent. It's that classic don't give them a decision to make.

They've made their decision. Morsy and the club can only change that if they can SHOW he didn't do anything wrong I think.

I have little doubt the clowns at the FA will find Morsy guilty. I’d like to know how these charges come about. Do the FA have a team of people reviewing every game? Or is it snitches such as Holt flagging these incidents?

Not sure holt is a snitch. If an opposition player had done something like is alleged we would have no issue with it being brought to the attention of the FA.

The issues I have are:

holt has made it clear he would have no issue with one of his own players doing it.
It is not at all clear it is what is alleged.
hamilton has gone down as if it is something far worse than it was in order to make it look worse.

These things together put a very bad taste in my mouth over this.

I really can't see how it would have come to their attention (a mid table league 1 game) unless the twitter storm had been stirred up.

The official can advise the fa that there was an unseen incident which they may wish to review.

Not saying that's what happened. But it's one of the possibilities.

Unless Quest had picked up on it or their chairman had gone straight to the FA without doing so.

I am unsure how the workings of the FA play but wouldn't be too surprised it social media is more likely to catch their eye.

Hamilton said whatever his Chairman had told him to say.

If he said different initially in the public domain, it should be further evidence for Morsy's defence.

50/50 for me.

If raising your arm is deemed wrong/dangerous then both players are at fault.

Also, only one player finished the game with a bruise on his face and he was wearing a blue shirt.

Big thing for me was their player calling it a shove/punch. Massive difference between the two actions. If he was punched he would have definitely known about it - a shove is being pushed away.

I think if Morsy punched someone, there would be some marks and probably some blood.

I think he’s screwed any way you look at it.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t put “hands up to the face” or whatever it’s called. But it was a striking movement to the upper chest/shoulder. Would probably have got away with it if the ref had seen in a game situation (definitely a talking to and maybe a yellow card). But now the FA will have to act on the striking motion and won’t want to be seen as condoning it.

So there must be some ban, especially given his earlier problems this season. Hopefully just 1 or 2 games if there’s any doubt, rather than 3 or 4.

You are absolutely right, it’s made worse by the usual League One play for time, break the game up, play acting.

I’ve never trusted them ever since the marcus stewart /hart incident… no contact whatsoever which was clear as day watching it retrospectively and yet he got clobbered with a three match ban…

But one of the officials did see it, hence why the referee stopped play and had a chat with both of them.

Or just because the player went down holding his head. It was a blink and you’d miss it moment with the ball nowhere near them by then.

Who knows?

But I’m not hopeful that Morsy gets away with it – which is a massive shame given how important he’s been for us. On the plus side, I think Bakinson showed some good stuff and even Carroll got into the game, plus the 3 CBs have strengthened us in the middle defensively. So maybe we’re not as exposed by Morsy’s likely absence as we would have been a month or two ago.
