We've got roughly the same number of points Blackpool had at this stage.. 13:22 - Feb 6 with 866 viewsBobbychase

...last season. They had 45, we have 44.

Trouble is they then won 10 of their last 16 to get into the play-offs and ultimately get promoted.

Picking up wins when not playing well - as we did yesterday - is good and something we've not been used to, but it doesn't suggest we can go on that sort of run.

That said, I still believe. Sort of.

My best guess is that we'll get 28 points which won't be enough, shame!

As mentioned in another thread, we are on that sort of run / in that sort of form...5 wins and 1 draw from our last 8 games, continued for the rest of the season would be 10 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 16 games...

Saturday's not a sustainable way to win games, but the hope is that our performance levels improve and the resilience remains. You'd hope that (a) Morsy returning (b) working out our best front 3 (c) Bakinson and Thompson finding their feet gives us at least some of that improvement. Whatever the opposition, 6 points from 9 without our captain and key player is exactly what I've wanted from a manager for a long time - the ability to win even when we have key absentees.

We beat them 2-0 on this day a year ago, leaving them 13th in the table.

It’s doable for us, but it’ll be a Herculean effort. And it’ll take the rest of the season and other teams to play their part. It’s a massive gap if those top 6 keep picking up points at a similar rate. I don’t think we’ll do it, but we’re nearer than we were. We had no chance whatsoever under Cook.

This is roughly where I'm at. We probably won't do it, but the refusal to down tools is refreshing.

If Cook or god forbid, Lambert were still here there'd be all sorts of talk of 'strengthening in the summer', 'building for next season' or the dreaded 'free hit' whilst letting the season completely drift away right now.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

We are going to need to win 10 of our last 16 and not lose all of the remaining 6.

Doable.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

We are going to have to…….just take each game as it comes ffs. Right now all that matters is beating Doncaster. Worry about my dons on Wednesday whatever the result etc

I think we’ll fall just short, and miss the playoffs by 3 or 4 points. We have to be good almost every week and have no margin for error.

100%, no petering out of this season full on until the last breath, if we don't make it we will be more fired up for August,
