Piggot staying? 10:10 - Jun 20 with 3412 views | Mediocre_Quick | Pig to stay? Or just a fair coincidence Town snapped him as part of the welcome back pics? Notice Chaplin getting a lot of individual attention too, being lined up to be a key player this season as a replacement for Celina?

McKenna will have an opinion of Pigott, but he'll be keeping that to himself. These moves often happen at the last minute & I reckon he'll suddenly be whisked away if another club is willing to match his wages.

Exactly. It's not like McKenna has a word with the club photographer or whoever is taking photos and says 'Right, he's crap so don't bother with him. He's an integral part of the squad, so get lots of photos of him'. Photos are taken. Players are there. Only McKenna, Ashton and a few other staff know who we are looking to move on, not David Bailey.

He couldn't really show us any less sadly! I'm sure if we are unable to shift him, after a full pre season, he'd prove to be a useful squad player and do a bit this year - but his wages won't be commensurate to his role in the side

Pre-seasons are strange things. If Jackson and Donacien are anything to go by, it might not pay to be too hasty.

I expect if we bring another forward in we will try and loan him out to at least try and recoup some of his wages. Shame really as his dad died early in the season and that would take the stuffing out of anyone. Does not strike me as a McKenna player at all but I would be happy to be proved wrong as I appear to have been with Jackson. Even he thought he was gone.
Piggot staying? on 08:33 - Jun 22 with 1315 views | tractorshark | The irony with Pigott is if we signed a striker with a goal record similar to his, we would probably be fairly happy. I thought he started last season ok, then lost his place to Bonne and with it all his confidence. Like many, I don’t think I’d lose much sleep if he left but I do think there is a player there and he’ll probably have success elsewhere. In my opinion we still need another striker so if he or Simpson are the makeweights, so be it.

I agree he doesn't seem to fit the athletic profile of the sort of player McK wants, and I'm a good judge because I remember sticking up for Jackson with my mates when he came back into the fold at the Wimbledon away game, because I always thought he had potential! That's not to say that Pigott couldn't succeed at a club with a different set-up. [Post edited 22 Jun 2022 8:51]

I posted this in the pre season thread should have put it here......... I wonder if Pigott will be able to reignite his Town career, He should have been great for us but he will need to do well and be given a fair crack in the pre-season games. There's no doubt he can score well at this level he's done it elsewhere Im just not convinced he has settled/mixed well here, he never seems part of any Player group photos, I wonder if he has already been told he is not in McKenna's plans. Hopefully he can turn it round and prove himself to be the player we all hoped he would be.

It could be that he is just not as outgoing as the other players. Indeed, I sense he is someone who is not especially confident, which may in turn impact on his performance.
Piggot staying? on 11:16 - Jun 22 with 1005 views | RobTheMonk | Last season he just wasn't fitting into the system we play and was activiely hindering attacks because his hold up was so poor. I think he's fine in the right system, but not for us. But pre season can do strange things...
