The risk of trying to pass it around at the back when you haven't got the ability to. Wouldn't have happened if the keeper had hoofed it up the field like a non league keeper should.

They were probably outsiders for the competition anyway.

Exactly what I thought.

Sure he can't handle it. But it was there for a volley easily enough!

What's amazing is the player is under absolutely no pressure at all!

Yes, but the difference in the extra preliminary round is the winners of the tie get £1,125 and the losing club get £375. In the Preliminary round, the winners get £1,444 and the losing club still gets £481. If they reach the first round qualifying, the pot goes up to £2250 for the winning club and the losing club receives £750… so to clubs at that level, those numbers are quite significant if you manage to make it through even just a couple of the pre-qualifying rounds… which makes that mistake quite an expensive one potentially!

Yea, have to sympathise with that team, how do you celebrate that sort of goal, a tricky problem for sure.

Not sure the goalie is the main culprit there to be fair!

We lost to Liverpool at PR in very similar circumstances.

Alan Hunter bringing the ball out of defence, could see no way to pass forward, so turned and hoofed it back to Cooper, which unbeknown to Bg Al, had come a good way off his line…The ball sailed over Coops head into the net. Great goal , and the Scouse hoards acclaimed him “ BIG AL, BIG AL , BIG AL ….. from the North Stand .

Not especially, that's where the away fans were in those days. Had up to half of it.

No, the middle pen was usually left empty but when there were a lot, the away fans got that too. So up to a half of the North Stand.

tbf , it changed over various seasons due to changes in policing strategies.

The Leeds FA Cup game 38,010, they had a good half of the NS on the right side as you face stand from the pitch.

I remember the N. Standers singing that "IRA" song in a games vs Villa . Villa fans went absolutely berserk ( it was not long after the Birmingham bombings - hence their anger) and and full on attack across the stand ensued . They also stood on the right side of the stand.

Then the caging was introduced and the "away end " in the NS changes sides, and the middle section was left empty , but would be filled for the big games.

Can you imagine stand in the NS with the "thin Blue Line" of police separating you from the away fans? It used to be tenses in certain games to say the least. Interestingly I dont think the budgies were even in Division One ( equivalent to PL now ), for many years. We hardly registered them as even rivals in those days, because we were never in the same division. So us and them in the NS , I cant recall it happening ...but time fades the memory, so it might have happened.

Interestingly one of their fans said the keeper had played for a team where the goalkeeper was actually sent off for saving a back pass of this ilk

Would this seriously be the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity if they try and save it with their hands?
