Tory cretin of the week .... 18:08 - Oct 2 with 1940 views | HARRY10 | .... hots up The usual favourites (Dorries and Rees-Mogg) were bumped from pole position pole by the Tory Party chairman, Jack Berry. In comments that went far beyond the requirements of stupidity for a Tory he said " People know when they get their bills, they can either cut their consumption or get higher salaries or higher wages, and go out there and get that new job” The sheer stupidity of that is breath taking, even when coming from a Tory. More so when it was earlier announced that nurses are leaving because of low pay and poor conditions. What should someone at a lower pay than a nurse do ? Become a nurse ? Can people simply swap jobs, irrespective of any relevant skills needed ? Maybe some see how they spend their working time as a vocation. They see the time they spend in doing something useful, something that makes a difference as being important. A clear reminder of how Tories know the price of everything, and the value of nothing,

What these cretins don't seem to understand is that for many people you cannot just get a new job for more money. If you work in something like retail your only choice if you want more money is to give up more of your time. People should not have to sell their time for £10 an hour before tax.

I think you'd be surprised. I'm 35 and loved that. Obviously the repeats on Gold rather than the original airing.

It fascinates me that there are still a relatively high number of Tory members. Can they not see what is happening? Or is it a case of having chosen their side and treating it like supporting a football team?

Have these bigots been so glued to 'Germany calling", Farage type TV that they have not seen the numerous polls this week ? Some of which even carried figures that would suggest the Tories surviving with just the 3 MPs. And most pointed to around 2/3rds of Tory MPS losing their seats. Yes, that is realistically only a snapshot on a particular couple of days of how people feel. This time about Fridays budget. What did they think ? Dancing in the streets ?

Tory cretins are ten a penny. Ronny Barker love interests named after 1970s soft porn books/ films are unique.
Tory cretin of the week .... on 20:57 - Oct 2 with 1088 views | eireblue | This is the problem with meritocracy mixed with neoliberalism and privilege. If people can’t improve their lot, then that is their problem, they should cut their cloth accordingly, seems to be the attitude. If everyone was a entrepreneur, that could make millions, then no one would be stopping crime, putting out fires, and helping millionaires with broken legs. Quite funny really, being a healthcare professional in the past could have had you burnt as a witch, tut meritocracy, all seems somewhat based on luck and fortune.

A thought would have, if more folk were millionaires they would not be the need for crime, as you never hear of a millionaire getting done for mugging

And then you can always fall back on tarmacing the drives of unsuspecting pensioners before making them pay over their entire life savings. That's how real entrepreneurs do it.

When the pendulum swings one way then inevitably it will swing back. I think the UK voters will want honesty, integrity and substance over lies, vacuous promises and bullsh*t at the next election. The Tories are all out of honesty, integrity and substance but can the Labour party convince the voters they have these qualities when the right-wing press are shouting Corbyn-bacon sandwiches-immigrants-NHS death panels etc ?

Wrong Barker. It's hard to believe that those two roles were played by the same person at pretty much the same time. I think it was Laurence Olivier who told Ronnie Barker that he was one of his favourite actors. Not just comic actor, but actor.

"the right-wing press are shouting Corbyn-bacon sandwiches-immigrants-NHS death panels etc" The same media failed to save the bloater in the Tiverton, Amersham Wakefield and the Shropshire by elections. And the fat fraud was portrayed s some jolly old fellow, but that didn't stop three of those by-elections seeing Tory MPs out on the ear with massive swings against them. Truss has not that popular appeal. Third choice by MPs and only 14% in the open vote. Labour has held a comfortable lead in the polls since Jan. The current 200 seat majority are no doubt a blip related to Russ's suicidal budget. What happens if the pound hits the skids again in the next month or so. There's an awful lot of folk who have seen their plans of moving house farked this week. And the numbers facing massive rises as they come off low mortgage deals each month. Most in society require only a simple answer. Someone to blame...Jews, Blacks, immigrants So who can they blame for the countries current dire position .......hmm ?

I'm hoping that the Tory catastrophe is so bad that it gives Labour a little more room to be honest, have integrity and provide substance, because they don't have to compete too hard to win. They are not going to have to compromise principles in order to secure votes. It looks like a big opportunity for decency to me, and I hope they take it and set the scene for the next few decades at least. We're bloody well going to need it.

I see where you're coming from. But that f***ing front page of Ed eating a bacon sandwich and the country went in a direction that led us to Brexit and then 6 years on to this sh*t show. Never, ever underestimate the slime that are the right-wing press.

Ronnie Barker was a genius. A one off. Unrepeatable. A few good writers made their names by recognising that.

Yes, however it makes you wonder what is cause, and what is effect. Do those with closed minds seek out such stories so as to vindicate their opinions or are such stories the cause of their views I have come to think it is the former - having previously thought it was much the latter
