They looked bang average, aside from the excellent (on loan) Whittaker who scored one and made two. Mumba and Cooper also very strong. Otherwise, Exeter were the better team first half and did ok until the last 10 mins second half.

Most points etc….. Do you recall us being top around this stage under Lambert? I don’t know one Town fan that actually believed we deserved to be top or, most importantly, would/could sustain getting those wins as our performances were, on the whole, pretty poor. Plymouth may well sustain it, but, all other stats (not points, appreciate that) suggest Plymouth are performing as a mid table side. They’re benefiting from an outstanding keeper, and 2 match winners in Whittaker and Mumba, both of who are on loan. Could add Aziz, also on loan, but he’s out for 10-12 weeks. Let’s keep ourselves chipping along as we are and it’s irrelevant anyway. 💪💙

A Lot Lot Better. More organized both on and off the ball. Exeter were no pushover either.

It's interesting to note, though, that he hasn't ruled it out and would appear to have suggested that it's on his radar as a decision to be made: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/ncfc-canaries-bali-mumba-goal-video-p "It's way too early (to make that decision). We've got a four week period with no games at all (during the World Cup), so we'll probably take stock during that period. "(The loan) is what he needed. We felt it was going to be hard for him to get the games here, although with the injuries that we had, he probably would have got games. Hindsight's wonderful when you've got it."

I think that's a real stretch to suggest they're a lot, lot better. The recent game between the 2 would suggest that's not the case, they're a good side but there was very little to choose between the sides on that occasion.

I saw Man United were linked with Norwich’s Max Aaron’s the other day, surely if that deal happens, Mumba will almost definitely be going back to Norwich.

I only saw a little of it, but Ryan Hardie looked very good while I was watching. It is easy to think only a few players stand out when watching one match. That is not to say different players don't step up in different matches.

You think that once the transfer window is open, it is impossible that they would sign someone to replace a departure?

Well that’s not what I said, is it? Signing players in January has always been more difficult than the Summer, if Aaron’s gets sold, it would make sense for Norwich to just recall an in-form player they already own. Of course, it’s all speculation and if’s and maybe’s and peoples opinions.

Not that we looked any where near as good as Plymouth under Lambert We peaked at about this stage and began to tail off [Post edited 1 Nov 2022 19:50]

'All other stats other than points' - what is that exactly? 'expected goals'? - Most goals in the top 4 leagues after Man City, which I should add do not include any free-kick/corner goals. 2 pens and the rest open play. - Something like the 1st team to reach 40+ points in all the way to the bottom pro rank division. - Undefeated in 16 in all competitions. - 9 home wins out of 9 - Plenty of goalscorers (League Goals - Hardie & Whittaker - 7 each, Azaz and Ennis - 6 each, Cosgrove - 5) - 14 points from losing positions after 17 games, the highest in the top 4 leagues. If that is an 'average' team then please show me what a good team looks like. I think like many fans, you have run into this idea that we aren't very good because our most recent form has slightly tailed off. Yet we are still coasting through some of these very recent games (Accrington, MK Dons, Rovers first half), and in the case of last night (which by the way was (a) in swirling wind and rain and (b) a local derby, still had way too much for Exeter to cope with by the end of the game, and frankly another 20 minutes and we could have had 6. But because we are little old Plymouth, we can't possible be that good can we. But I look forward to 'all other stats but not points' and actually wonder if there is anything to this other than the expected goals thing. You mention matchwinners of Whittaker and Mumba but don't mention our other top scorer Hardie who has 7 league goals, or Ennis on 6? Do they not contribute or are they just 'average'? I hate to break it to you mate but I can tell you now that our fans aren't worried like your fans were under Lambert. We're not playing poorly at all (bar a slight dip in standards of late in some games) and provided we keep our loanees and the squad can get through injuries (of which we have at least 5 now), we can more than smash that 100+ point record. We hit 80 points last year (losing only Camara), and we are now much stronger offensively and are scoring goals relentlessly. Realistically, we will be north of 50 before 23 games. Our home form is unlikely to suddenly tail off and see us lose multiple home games, and we have played all the top sides at home already.
