What an impact he had the game. There was footage going around of his supposed casket being prepared before Xmas as they knew he didn't have long.

And, of course, one of the stars of Escape To Victory.

It was the closest he got to fulfilling his dream of playing for ITFC… at least he got to play with some of the team mates he would’ve had…

RIP

Doubt anyone will exceed his goalscoring record. Combination of talent and longevity in the game.

The Brazilian Tony Dinning.

RIP. GOAT for me. So far ahead of his time it was scary (not that I’m old enough to have seen much of his career).

You may gave seen this - it’s most of the well known trick and signature moves of more recent players, all done by Pelé decades earlier.

Believe it was announced his health was deteriorating around the time World Cup started, so they were probably preparing from then.

RIP a true great.

RIP a true legend

I know 'greatest' is subjective but for me he is the greatest footballer ever.

Such a great player. Before my time, but the stats and film I've seen record for even those of us not fortunate enough to see him in action what an incredible footballer he was.

He contributed to my favourite goal of all time, that majestic move v Italy in the 1970 World Cup against Italy where he rolled the ball to Alberto, who arrived like a train.
Pure football ballet.
My second favourite was Paul Mariner’s in that 7-0 WBA game in 1976.
Whilst I ramble, Portsmouth have just scored again..

Gotta save that to watch repeatedly, 3 x ain't enough, thanks for posting.

Not just the GOAT footballer in my eyes, but after his playing career a champion of childrens' charities & good causes, & a UN ambassador for ecology and the environment.

R.I.P.
