Honestly want to give my take on the game. This is not flouncing or a massive panic, but come on.

We are a club who are FA Cup and Europa League/UEFA Cup winners. I'm sure many of you on here have seen us win both.

I just cannot believe, personally, that some are happy with a point. Yes - ok, on the balance of the game, probably a fair result. We blew them away for periods of the second half, but really?

I know this will most likely get downvotes as it seems to be the case that we need to be ultra-positive 24/7. But we were 2-0 down inside 35 minutes against a promotion rival, and it probably should've been three when they rounded Walton. With the money we've spent, that should NEVER be happening. Unfortunately I feel it isn't with our feet, but more what's between the ears that will stop us going up.

Very happy that we did come back, granted, but it took a wonder strike and a bit of a jammy deflection to do so. I really do want to put a positive spin on this game, as I have not seen us come from 2-0 down for a long ole time, but struggling.

Personally pretty peed off with the result, but obviously would've taken it 35 mins into the game. Also can't really see us getting past the next few with the 'flawless' performances + results which have been spoken about, but maybe I am just a negative Nancy!

*disc is that I really do not want to be this negative person, as I love my town and football club, I am just really angry at the fact we let our standards slip like that first half.

Second first half in a row, league wise, where we’ve looked shambolic. And there were four changes from the side which started against Cambridge.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

I don't really get it, because in some games, we seem to come out first 15 all guns blazing and try and get that first goal - but in others' we're lacklustre. Struggling to understand it!

Our history is something we should be proud of and rightly celebrated, but frankly what’s the significance of us winning the fa cup 40 odd years ago on todays result and where we are as a club? The fact is there’s not a lot to choose between us and Sheffield Wednesday hence 2 draws, and Plymouth for that matter where they were 2 even games that should’ve been draws.

We’ve lost twice in 11 games, 1 was narrowly away to Burnley who are running away with the Championship and the other narrowly at Oxford in a farce of a game due to fog. We’re drawing too many, and I don’t see many people that are ‘happy’ with a home draw, we all wanted 3 points and recognise that we probably needed them given the league table. But we aren’t far off and the league table reflects that. We don’t have a god given right to trample good sides because we’ve spent a few quid, it doesn’t work like that.

So my question is , why ?

Are we psyching ourselves out of games before start? Failing to deal with the pressure? Not being mentally coached to the level required ? Have mentally weak players in the squad? Because it keeps happening . Play offs? Forget it . We’re finished before we take to the pitch .

If anyone wants to see what a mentally strong team looks lol one watch Town v Bolton play off at PR.

This squad today at the club are frankly a bloody joke for mentality . Do they resell gsve to have a half time pep talk to get going? REALLY??

Agree. Second half was a big improvement but as I said elsewhere, we didn’t create too many chances from open play. We look most dangerous from set pieces which doesn’t say much for our slow possession based build up play. That result is not something I’m going to celebrate and I just don’t see where a run of wins is going to come from.

We’re now firmly in the middle of the playoff pack in what was a 3 horse race for autos. Frustration is bound to be an abundant feeling and I don’t think any fan should be shouted down for expressing that.

Of course our history is important, it's just that sometimes I look around at people and wonder how some of our stuff is celebrated. Obviously a different era of football and I do get that, but draws in the third division at home to promotion rivals? FA Cup third round replay losses where we did OK enough over the 180?

I just feel it's a bit of a soft underbelly at times. And I hate to say it, because I really do love being positive about this football club. We aren't far off at all, agreed with that, but how long can we continue to be 'not far off'? When will the more 'fairweather' fans stop coming to games and our attendance decline again - esp if we have another season in the 3rd tier? It seems that we have been 'not far off' for months now.

Perhaps it’s tactics, or something getting lost in translation between McKenna and the starting line up. Because today both Clarke and Davis seemed to bomb forward at the same time, leaving no one covering at the back. Was one of them supposed to stay back or should Morsy or Humphreys dropped into defence? Think it was probably the former.

Playing a backline who had never played together as a unit against a team like Wednesday was always asking for trouble, and Clarke and Woolfenden looked really off kilter in the first half. Considering our midfield was clearly second best, talent wise, to theirs and the defence had lost it’s head up to Broadhead’s goal I think the players did really well in the second half to perform how they did.

Yeah, I really do agree with both posts. Was thinking over the game at 10 am (after a rare Saturday morning lay in for me) with a bowl of Cheerios, hoping and praying that one of the players was sitting in their nice houses thinking 'I'm gonna be the one to score the winner today' or 'I'm gonna really step up for my side today, and I'm so up for it'.

Unfortunately, for a good portion of that game, none of them seemed to have that sort of mentality.

Indeed. It is irrelevant. As is how big Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth, Derby or any of the rest of our opposition are as clubs. What matters in the here and now is the teams on the pitch. We finally have the chance to build a team that can head the club in the right direction. That isn't happening overnight with a few signings but is a longer term project. Are fans happy with a point against Wednesday? Today yes and no. Were we happy to take Burnley to a replay? In our current situation, yes. Are we happy to be a League 1 club? Of course not! Does this give us some divine right to walk the league? No. The project is moving in the right direction. There will be hiccups along the way and our current form is certainly one of those.

...Its not 1981. Stop moaning.

We can only play in, end enjoy or not, the league we are in. Soft underbelly? Bit silly. I enjoyed today a lot. Clap clap.

I hate to break it to people, but what we did in ‘78 and ‘81 means diddly squat now. If anything, it’s it’s part of the problem around these sorts of expectations. Similarly, money doesn’t guarantee anything either. I’m assuming we all want to go up, yet that’s going to take a lot of hard work. We have to earn it. We’ve no divine right because we once punched above our weight.

Even if you think history gives you a right to do well now, we should be delighted with a draw as Wednesday have a better club record. 4 league titles, 3 FA Cups, 1 league cup. So 3 times better and they should therefore have beaten us 1-3. Yeah, it’s a rubbish argument when you view it from their perspective isn’t it?

I don't think the soft underbelly comment is silly at all. How many times have we bottled leads this season? Especially in additional time. Today was the first time I have seen us battle back, and as said, fair play to the side for that.

Suppose it's just some slight frustration at the last few months in general.

We’ve won 3 games in about 3 months.

I will disclaim on this that I, of course, do not think we have a 'divine right' to win games because of our history, nor do I think that is 'where we should be' because we were there once.

It was more a comment that I am surprised lots of fans are happy that we are where we are due to the fact they have seen us do so much in their lifetimes, and we are now languishing about the 3rd division.

Today’s result is not the problem. The issue is how we play against the mid table and lower sides and if anything costs us a Championship place next season it will be that.
