Really?! Wowsers. Well each to their own I guess, I think you'd do well to find a funnier ad.
It's pretty funny for a aged TV ad. The John Smiths (have it) advert with Peter Kay used to always make me grin. Though possibly cause I could relate to his fine touch of a football

Talking of Peter Kay ones... the "any girl?" one was very good as well.

Not sure it's the funniest ever... but it is very good, in the way it is a comedic take on other dogfood adverts etc of the time "Look how shiny their coats are"...

Brilliant, I hadn't seen that before.
Reminds me a little of something that happened to me many, many years ago, in my yoof. I was on a long coach excursion with girlfriend-at-the-time sitting next to me. A very attractive girl happened to be sitting in the row in front on the opposite aisle, and in my eye line. I glanced at her and my mind wandered momentarily. I don't know whether it was my vacant smile, the fact that my tongue chose that precise moment to escape from my mouth, the small quantity of drool running down my chin, or all three, but I suddenly "came to" with the rather unpleasant sensation of a pair of eyes burning into the side of my neck. To my credit and despite significant inner discomfort, I managed to retain a modicum of composure on the outside. All I could think to say was "Hasn't that girl got a funny chin?" I know it was very weak, but to my utter surprise, I seemed to get away with it (or I thought I had - I never did pluck up the courage to raise the matter with said girlfriend again!)

The ones I've seen are always comedy gold in the "so bad, it's good" style.
I can't find some of my favourites, but I particularly enjoy the ones where people are walking into each other's houses and talking about their amazing funeral / over-50s plans as if it's totally normal.

Could you write ads for the over 50s life plans?

I hate those ads.
Comes across very ‘I’ve now got great life insurance and I cannot wait to die!’

There is quite a good one of a chap loving life on a jet ski. He still looks very young to have retired too.
But then it says something about not letting someone else spend it so I guess it isn't quite the advert you were looking for.
The whole wooden, artificial scene is cringeworthy. As are some of those that are designed to just blast you with a simple message - e.g. Safestyle "Buy one, get one free ..." but that is what makes them effective isn't it?

I think that's why I like them, they're just so bizarre but they're all like this so I assume it must work.

My elderly mother, who latterly was confined to watching the telly for much of the day but had all her faculties, used to hate them because the last thing she wanted to think of was her death, but I suppose the cost of, say, a funeral is worrying for some people, and the ads presumably play on people's fears.
But I agree they are bizarre.

When it comes to annoying ads, the one I remember the most was at the height of Yuppiedom in the 1980s.
I think it was an advert for a German car, and featured a very smug middle-class women on the verge of a business venture who said something like "Bob's with me. The bank's with me." and then got into and drove away the car.

They still make me laugh. Especially the Japanese one and the one of the plane.
I watched them (for the first time in probably 40 or so years) before posting here. I laughed so loudly that my daughter appeared from her bedroom for the first time this half-term!
