Think being dropped might give him the kick up the @rse he needs. In an ideal world I’d go 532 but the injury situation in CM rules this out at the moment.

I did wonder about Burns I'm rather hoping the one vs Morecambe turns up I also wondered about Aluko as a CM

Clarke for Janoi, Hirst for Ladapo probably the only questions here. (Although after last night I'd get Cameron Humphreys out of the firing line by any means necessary)

Agree re. Humphreys but if Luongo isn’t fit we have no other option. I think he’s a great talent but he’s been fairly anonymous the last two games, which i think is fair enough for someone so young playing in probably not his natural role.

Yeah, I like Humphreys and there's obviously a player there, but I thought he was poor last night.

He was outperforming earlier in the season but he's reverted back to the mean both in distribution and in defending on the ground. SB

Last night was the first time he properly looked like a youth team player. I winced every time he had to contest a duel and he got dribbled past more times than I could count. He will be a fantastic player but we're harming his development expecting him to compete physically in a two-man midfield. The more he struggled off the ball, the worse his passing got too. We might get away with it at home to Forest Green (although I'd have said the same about last night really) but unless Luongo or Ball's return is imminent I'd be thinking about which senior outfielders could do a job there out-of-position.

Personally I thought he was one that did ok last night including a couple of very good long cross field passes early on.

My inclination would be to add a defensive player and let Morsy do his playmaking and pressing further up the field with a bit more insurance. Risk with moving Aluko (or any other attacker) backwards is that you can't trust the defensive contribution (which makes Morsy less potent).

If Keno was Kieran on Saturday the team would be on 17:41 - Feb 15 with 898 views | Nthsuffolkblue | To be fair, if Keane was manager tomorrow in place of McKenna, the team would be: Hladky Keogh Edmundson Woolfenden Burgess Clarke Luongo (fit or otherwise) Morsy Leigh Ladapo Hirst The result would be 1-1 with us taking the lead and then defending gradually deeper until conceding in the final 10 minutes and desperately hanging on. There would then be 8 or 9 changes for the following match after he had absolutely crucified the one defender he doesn't drop for being by far the worst player on the pitch.

Aluko as a possible CM is intriguing - he's sometimes seemed more like he's playing that role than as a striker on the few occasions I've seen him. Don't think he has the engine for it though does he? maybe in an emergency, for a limited amount of time.

But did the “Morecambe Burns” only exist because he was up against a 17 year old playing out of position? [Post edited 15 Feb 2023 23:08]

Last night I thought he was the only one making those runs from deep into the box (as he did when he scored that diving header against whoever it was earlier this season - someone remind me…?) - almost got in twice at least last night. I think he is the only one who would have got in the same position that Byers did to score against us. I am not saying there are not things he could do with improving, but he does have something different.
