We are essentially part of a multi-club ownership now, it's a very modern setup

The network we are part of Is going to have various benefits I'm sure. Am I right in thinking the owners got hold of this site when a major sports teams in the area had struggled to achieve this?

The current owners are serious operators and don't mess about

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Ashton mentioned he was in the US for a week meeting the owners in his and KMs recent interview with Matt Holland.

Quite interesting that he spent time looking at their Rhode Island venture too.

But just as well they are all wearing hard hats because it looks a very dangerous (flattened) site.

Ah, but who’s to say a minute after the pic was taken they didn’t start doing this? In formation of course.

Hard hat would have been needed then!

Suppose much will depend on whether you see a football club as being at the heart of a community or a shopping/leisure development.

And for me, I can't see "destination" developments as having anywhere near the character as an old fashioned site, in a town, within walking distance of traditional pubs.

The best stadiums for me will always be those that people can leave their homes, walk for a beer and then onto the stadium. Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton, Sheff Utd, Ipswich will always be preferable to the new sites, edge of town, leisure destinations that are springing up. (Derby, Stoke, Col U)

The American one seems to be redeveloping in a run down area whixh i guess is better than an out of town development. Either way, Portman Rd for me, yeah put some poncy shops on the site if it brings in revenue, but you can fck right off if you want to relocate away from the current site/town centre.

The fact the club now own the area behind the South Stand suggests they have longer terms plans for the stadium

I'm not sure where Ashton Gate is in Bristol but they chose to redevelop that rather than move to a bigger modern stadium, elsewhere in Bristol?

Ashton Gate complies pretty much with Bluelagos' ideal stadium location criteria, south of Bristol docks with terraced and other housing around.

Ashton is a good guy and his heart is in our club.

I bumped into him at Rugby Services last night. He drove himself to Bolton and back yesterday as he was working late Friday night at Fortress Portman Rd so he couldn't travel up with the team.

He could easily have stayed home and watched a dodgy stream but he chose to drive there and back to get behind the team.

Au contraire. They're going to tow the fecker up the Orwell and park it in the Wet Dock. Which will be good news for the cats of Ipswich, as there'll be plenty of gen-yoo-ine chicken to hand for the fast food joints of the town.
