That there is a bus lane on West End road. Will slow down exit by car by quite a bit I would imagine, but on the positive side should ease the problem of busses getting stuck in traffic a little bit.

I would also be not at all surprised to see it widely abused on match days if it is not rigorously enforced.

It’s a joke and a complete waste of money. No buses go down there.

It’s a ‘trial’ and the public consultation/questionnaire goes live on 1st August.

What bus lane? Have they taken the left turn lane away leading to the lights?

Isn’t it just for the benefit of Park & Ride buses.

Really, jeez it was bad enough working in Sir Alf Ramsey way & getting out on to West End Road in the evening rush with two lanes heading out, & now all three possible travel directions at the lights will share just the one………….fuken idjuts.

No of course not, the bus lane finishes not long before the lights.

Anything that encourages buses and discourages cars is a good thing, so long as there is a decent bus service using the lane.

The queueing traffic will be a lot more extreme now, alas more emissions pumping out as people walk along the road after a game!

Think the P&R buses used to go down Ranelagh Road but seems they do use West End Road now, but probably only one bus an hour or something like that.

I still think they’re missing a trick. With all the congestion, it’d be far quicker to leave the ground by trebuchet. It might take a little while to get the sun right, but you could probably make the station in one good sling.

Not sure why this would get a downvote. Getting a bus back on matchday is a nightmare, so anything helping that is a good thing. Presumably it’d speed up the Park and Ride buses.

Like you say, just need the good bus service.

Really? None? If that's the case then putting a bus lane there is peak daftness. Should have made it a two way, properly separated cycle lane.

You can be sure, if it goes ahead, that the bus lane will operate 24/7.

I know. And in practical terms I kind of agree with Sitters and others who say it's wrong. But unless we actually start doing things to reduce our COâ‚‚ output, we are actually f$%ked, dead, kaput, gone. (I don't mean the entire human race for anyone who insists on thinking in binary terms, but I do mean millions of humans, countless species and ecosystems, food production, comfortable life and a happy future for any surviving children)

It might be putting the cart before the horse, but we're fiddling with our cocks while our house is burning down on a local, a national and a global scale. It's pathetic and we just keep making excuses.

Every now and then there are threads on here about the best place to park for footy and whenever the Park and Ride is mentioned it gets widely derided, and with good reason, because the buses get stuck in traffic.

If the new bus lane helps with that then it will be a positive outcome.

That's if it does help with that, last time I took a P&R bus it didn't go that way. Which brings back to your original point 'providing there is a good bus service'

When it’s busy the P&R buses tend to go under the railway bridge and through Chantry, which would still be a quicker way even with this bus lane.
