At what point will teams start coming here for a point 10:53 - Oct 8 with 2268 viewsHipsterectomy

It seems most teams have come here positively and with a belief they’re better than us. In League 1 the most frustrating games were the ones, on paper, that should have been an easy 4-0 yet it ends up 0-0

Surely these teams are going to be watching highlights and coming here more defensively soon

Looks like they come here and think they can press us hard and stop us from playing.
But that isn't really working out. ( I don't know what happened with Leeds )

Parking the bus is the next stage but we had a lot of that in Div 1 and eventually figured it out.
Either way KMc knows exactly what to do.

That was pretty much how Preston set up yesterday.

It’s going to take a very disciplined team to sit back against us for 90 minutes. We make it too tempting for them to try and win the ball deep in our own half. If they do try it we’ll play in their half, wear them down and get the breakthrough at some point. I can see us losing a few 3-2, I don’t envisage many 0-0 draws or 0-1 losses.

I thought Preston came to be very defensive and physical with the "low block". I didn't actually think we played as well as we have been as Preston managed to disrupt us quite a bit. At the moment we're just relentless with waves of fast attacks. They were frustrating us second half but ultimately McKenna always finds a way.

I think Preston kind of tried that yesterday in that they flooded the midfield to try and stop us playing and pumped it long to hit us on the break occasionally.

It did cause us problems at times but they left acres of space for Davis and Williams to run into on the flanks which is why they changed it at half time.

Interesting film ( somewhere on the board ) of Preston pressing us high and failing - we ended up with a great chance.

But I guess that's when we were already ahead.

PNE did exactly this yesterday.

We’ll be good again... one day

One thing about us conceding the odd sloppy goal (or two) and taking those extra risks playing around our box is that teams must fancy scoring against us.
We do give a few tempters out to teams that must keep them interested. I do wonder if some managers look at us as upstarts from L1 and want to teach us a lesson.

If they do want to shut up shop then we've improved with our set-pieces and long range shooting. They can take a look at our goals and many come from corners and shots outside the box. I think someone like Taylor could be pretty handy given a bit of shooting practice from 25 yards.

If this does happen a bit more regularly, then Jack Taylors shooting may just become a new weapon that we have in the locker.....

I thought Hull did. Sat deep in the first half with no ambition to press higher up the pitch.

Not sure about that. Our two goals first half came precisely because they were pressing us high and left us space when we then broke through the press. They were nowhere near as effective as us at pressing and couldn't stop us playing around them, but they were trying to press.

Before our goal I was thinking of posting something like "Cambridge North End?"

They seemed pretty happy to park the bus and get a point in the early stages.

I thought Preston paid us a big compliment yesterday. They are third in the league after all and a good side but they were focused entirely on stopping us. Worked for a bit but then we ran over them.
