Missing Luongo is not good considering how lightweight the midfield looked at West Brom.

Yeah and it’s not as if Ball offers the same things either, nor Taylor. Start Humphreys ;)

I would say Humphreys ought to play but McKenna has brought Taylor in for a reason. I just hope it is obvious sooner rather than later because it currently look like a big drop off missing Luongo or Morsy.

It wasn't a massive drop off against Swansea, in fairness. But away from home, we certainly need both.

First 10 minutes 0-1 with Taylor giving away possession for the goal. After a couple of chances, "Swansea had another brief spell on top before the Blues levelled in the 17th minute" (OK through Taylor which is the area of the game he does improve us). Maybe it just took a while for it to work and I accept the match report suggests it was comfortable once we levelled. I just feel Taylor doesn't (so far) give us the same bite in midfield that makes us so strong. We rarely lose a midfield battle when Morsy and Luongo play together.

I didn't think we really won the battle in midfield today, though. Actually, the Burns goal came at just the right time as they were starting to get on top during the first half too. I do agree we looked poor at West Brom without Luongo, and we probably should try Ball ahead of Taylor next week.

I am not sure Ball has looked any better than Taylor when he has played that position. I think Humphreys has. But I bow to McKenna's wisdom.

I think it's worth noting Morsy and Humphreys made up our midfield for the most part when we had our shaky period (relatively speaking) last season - the four wins in fifteen or whatever it was. It's difficult to know who the best option will be. I assume Luongo would have missed one of Middlesbrough or Watford anyway.
