Football 'hatred' is absolutely fine. Most people get it.
I support Ipswich because my dad did and took me to my first game when I was 2. From about 4 onwards I went regularly and was brought up to 'hate' Norwich and yellow and green.
I have had plenty of mates who have supported Norwich down the years. Lots of decent people I worked with. They are just like us.
Most Norwich fans are decent people. They support their local club just like us, having likely been taken by their parents. I don't wish them any ill will individually and don't think about them for 99% of the year.
But whenever we are playing them I bloody 'hate' them in a football sense. I hate them every time they are on TV and every time they are playing and want them to be humiliated consistently and comprehensively.
If anyone is daft enough to take football rivalry 'hate' as the sort of hatred you'd have for a mass murderer or sex offender, a self serving politician or the bloke that ran off with your missus then that's on them.

Couldn’t agree more - I live in Norwich and everyone I know is a Norwich fan, and I can’t think of anything I want to see more than us smash them for 6 tomorrow. Do you think they will get upset about the song? I just think singing about our own team is far better for the atmosphere, and no doubt more appreciated by our players. Crack on though. | |
