JDT Blackburn presser - comments on transfers 15:41 - Jan 19 with 3791 views | Nutkins_Return | Found his comments interesting. He really didn't want to talk about it but was saying he didn't what the club to weaken the team but not in his hands. Said again don't want it to be weakened without first bringing in. This did not sound a man confident of keeping players. They are linked now with Lukas Jutkiewicz. This also would suggest they are expecting to lose Gallagher or Ennis is or both. Wonder if Gallagher is back on. Also occured to me that Gallagher was keeping Hirst out the Blackburn team before right? Could be an interesting battle ahead. Good problems if we got him. We're all wasting our time speculating but does feel like something is happening...and it's sort of fun....sort of. [Post edited 19 Jan 2024 15:44]

Aren't Blackburn in all sorts of financial trouble? Failing FFP unless moving on a few high earners, which is why we have Travis. Why all this "out of my hands" comments are made too.

It's why I think a deal will get done - eventually - for Gallagher. He's their top earner (reportedly 25k a week), and they don't want to trigger the years option in his contract. Suspect if we offer a similar sum towards the end of the window, they'll take it this time.

Indian government have to authorise payments to Blackburn from the Venky's to effectively keep the lights on.

Mad isn't in. Law there means they can't take money out of India easily and into other countries. As above poster mentioned not sure if some ffp book balancing as well. Jutkiewicz will probably accept a fraction of the wages at his age and running to end of deal. (Saw him live recently and he just has no mobility).

It is an odd transfer anyway, isn't it? Blackburn are on record that their aim this season is to stay up. They're 10 points and four places clear the relegation zone and need maybe 13 more in 19 games to hit the average survival target of 45 points. No need to be too anxious about staying up. They're a club whose model is to develop young players and sell them for profit, who've said "pass" on good players like Sam Morsy when he left Middlesbrough (29 at the time) because he was too old for them. They're currently trying to shift high-earning players off their books. Here they are proposing to loan out a 24-year-old they signed on a big contract in the Summer, to play at a level they've already done well at, whilst potentially missing out on a seven-figure fee for a much older player whose contract they don't want to extend. Why not just play Ennis and sell Gallagher?

My assumption is that it will eventually happen but they think they can get a bit more out of us as we desperately need a striker. It's a game of who blinks first. [Post edited 19 Jan 2024 17:05]

Still one of the best things to ever happen in football, a fan getting a live chicken into the fcking stadium and putting it on the pitch

Pretty sure I remember a cockerel on the pitch at PR in a game against Spurs in the late 70's, early 80's?
