I don't think Philogene is coming 07:37 - Jul 10 with 3442 viewsAnsty

If he is not committed Sir Kieran will tell him to do one.

He may be committed. It may have been sorted days ago between player and club however legally nothing can be signed until the day is over due to Aston villas matching fee clause. It expires today. So I would imagine what he does it will happen tomorrow.

Yawn. What are you on about.

He has never played for us before, has no affiliation to us yet etc. Keep seeing people saying thing s like 'he's not committed move on". He's just looked at options and talked to different clubs. Like he should. He has seemingly agreed terms.

I don't think we can confirm the deal until Villas option to match deadline passes which is possibly today. If they bid which they might it will probably slow it down by a day or two.

This is all normal. A lot of our transfers in previous years have been kept under the radar so we didn't hear all this noise. Not easy when in Prem.

How on earth have you got to "he's not committed?!" Top level flouncing.
I'd say if he does end up here (as is looking likely) it shows just how committed he is, choosing us over Palace and Everton. He's been sold the McKenna ITFC dream.

Just reading you posting history - you do seem have a negative take on things.

You posted KM had gone to Brighton and then to Man Utd.....

In other sports, players go on strike - maybe sitting out the entire pre-season - until they get a new contract at their team. Once the deal is signed they are welcomed back into the fold all is forgotten and nobody questions the players.

I think the key point is your last paragraph. In L1, nobody is interested in transfer dealings. Bit more interested in the Championship but the PL is stratospheric by comparison. Lots of ‘column inches’ to fill and with the exception of Phil, few reliable sources. General media chatter? Best ignored.

As for the player, don’t know the bloke any more than anyone else does, but if ITFC are interested, they’ll have done their homework. That’s the big difference to days gone by.

What will be will be. In any case, priority as I see it is Goalie, CM and another, better striker to replace Moore.

The club spends weeks, possibly months, pursuing a player. Then, at the last moment, decides they don't want them after all because they wouldn't sign at the instant the fans wanted (before all the loose ends were tied up). Is this really a likely scenario?

If we only hired players who desperately wanted to be at Ipswich Town above all others, we wouldn't have enough for a full squad.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

If you were at the top of your profession with many companies seeking your employment would you go and see and listen to all of them? Of course you would

I wouldn't have gone back anywhere that didn't value me. They are probably just looking at extra resale value in a year anyway rather than wanting him for a specific role. Disappointing that they left it so late and again looks more of an afterthought.

Villa? What makes you say they didn't value him? They treated him well in allowing him to go and play as he wanted somewhere surely? They clearly rated and valued him as they included a buy back.

I want him to come here. But let's understand the player isn't and Ipswich fan (or a fan of any of the others probably) and is going to choose the right thing for him and his career. If it is us then brilliant! He'll have assessed everything and chosen us. This is far far better than getting a player who had no other options.
