The driver is completely wrong here but I feel sorry for him 17:39 - Jul 19 with 2402 views | Mullet | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ced3z8kx9eqo There’s a lot we don’t know here, but I’m baffled no teachers stood up to intervene, to sort it out or let it get that far. If any of my team just sat there like that I’d be gutted. We are at least used to dealing with kids to some extent, he shouldn’t have been put in a position to do that. Losing his job is a sad state of affairs regardless of how badly wrong he went.

The driver is completely wrong here but I feel sorry for him on 17:54 - Jul 19 with 2319 views | Kievthegreat | Sad all round. The coach driver has threatened to assault children so it's understandable why the coach company let him go and I don't think they have much choice, especially when it's now blown up even more by becoming headline news. It does feel like the teachers have failed as well. When I think back to school trips, you wouldn't really hear from the coach driver. It would be the teachers taking charge of pupils. The coach driver has responsibility that safety rules are being followed, but it should be done in tandem with teachers. It feels like the driver in a position he was clearly not equipped for, having to manage misbehaving teenagers (you literally couldn't pay be enough to do that job!) because the teachers didn't/couldn't/wouldn't. Not to excuse his outrageous behaviour, but he equally shouldn't really be in that position IMO.
The driver is completely wrong here but I feel sorry for him on 18:02 - Jul 19 with 2278 views | N2_Blue | I get the point you are makeing especially with regards to no teacher standing up and speaking to the driver if any teachers were on board at the time of the video being recorded. You have assumed that, they may not have been on board. But frankly no one can act in that way with any members of public let alone school children. Its entirely unacceptable full stop. Had he been a bit annoyed and upset and used a couple of swear words in isolation its perhaps understandable but that is a full on rant and it's not just the language but attitude and what he says i.e threatening abuse, gettng a kicking etc. Whatever has happened, even if they had totally trashed the bus, you cannot behave like that as a driver. A driver of school shcildren is an exceptionally important and responsible position, something this indivudual would not appear to be able to perform even if his driving skills are exceptional. The coach compnay had no option. There is no way i'd send my child on a bus driven by that individual, so its the right decision.

No, there’s no way he could keep his job but unless that precipitated from nothing and he’s just a complete wrongun there’s a lot to unpick isn’t there? I wonder what the coach company does to train drivers too, as presumably he’s responsible for the repair or state of the coach to some extent

The driver is completely wrong here but I feel sorry for him on 19:55 - Jul 21 with 1670 views | Buhrer | An expletive filled rant from a bus driver? Wasn't this always standard... assuming only that kids nowadays get less fag smoke in their face and actual violence allowably included.

Maybe it was the teachers smoking and making a mess! They didn’t seem to be doing anything else to let things get this far.

That’s what my boss and I couldn’t work out. To think none of them steps in at that point is baffling. If it was me or my team involved I’d expect to be in a meeting explaining why.

Not just a meeting, but a strongly worded email as well, surely.

Huge sympathy for the driver. And we don't know what had been said to him or done to him before the recording. He may have things going on, need to be home etc. He may even have disciplinary stuff because of the state of the coach when he gets back, or because he hasnt insisted on seatbelts firmly enough etc etc.
