I have very little love for the monarchy but the late Queen would have hated to see such scum covering their faces with the Union Flag.

Based on Cooper's comments, it looks as if a few charges of attempted murder or arson with intent to endanger life may well be incoming.

Something needs to be done.

Even in my sleepy Gloucestershire village there has been increased abuse against the local newsagent (whose family originates from India). Just yesterday I was sat in my front room and I could hear a lady abusing the owners calling them all sorts of unpleasant names and telling them to go "back where they came from". By the time a few of us had got outside the lady was long gone and the police were called. The lady came back three times during the day to carry on the abuse and to try to steal alcohol. This happened at 10am yesterday. Police finally turned up at 7pm. It wasn't deemed a priority to them until the 4th incident apparently.

Not sure if it is related to the current ongoing situation around the country but there seems a lot of heat in the air. My village is the most chilled and peaceful place you could imagine.

Sad times.

I think we dont have to be ashamed of the flag just because right wing nutters carry it about. I hate this idea that we should try and associate the flag or the king or the vast majority of decent people with ignorant racists.

I think a good few may well end up having their access to the internet severely curtailed.

The St George Cross and Union Flag are flags for all, not who the Brexit Tory Right Wing idiots want to tell us it’s for.

They are the flags of our country (countries), not their political viewpoint. The more we demonise the flags, the more we give them possession of them.

Watching some of the coverage from earlier in Rotherham. The police officers are just sitting ducks. Why haven't they got pepper spray, water cannon, tasers, rubber bullets etc? They're just standing there taking it whilst these thugs run amok.

That's what baffles me.

This was so telegraphed. SYL was organising it all and posting about it on Twitter back on Friday, if not earlier. He told his followers to gather at that hotel today.

How the hell were the police not prepared for what was, quite obviously, going to happen? Could they not have instituted a pre-emptive dispersal order, which would have allowed them to arrest any of SYL's cabal the moment they got within 50m of the hotel?

Water cannons aren't legal in mainland UK and up until this weekend I would have wholeheartedly supported that

Yeah i guess I'm thinking of France.

But anyway, they need more than what they are currently getting, which is a shield and a truncheon as far as I can see.
