Phillips on loan especially as it’s our first season in the PL. I don’t think that Downes can play at the level that Phillips can operate at. Obviously, assuming that attitude and effort will both be excellent. |  | | |

I thought the last season he was at Town he looked very average…and I’ve not been overly impressed with him every time I’ve seen him play.
I think after the failed move to Palace he didn’t look like the same player. Phillips is a risk but if we can get him anywhere near the form at Leeds we’ll have had a real result and he has exactly the sort of experience the squad needed. We just need to be patient and allow him a few games to get up to speed after all he’s hardly played in his time at City. | | | |
