I didn’t know that’s what it was at the time, but apparently that’s what my newish weird mole is, not cancer or anything.

Spotted a small black, dotted patch next to an old mole I hadn’t noticed before. Make sure you get these things checked. I apologised lots for wasting her time, but the doc told me people often leave it too late making treatment harder.

My hubby ignored a growing, bleeding mole for ages. Not ashamed to say I nagged him all the way to the doctor, and he now has an impressive scar where.a cancerous mole was cut out.

It's not worth ignoring. He has been told a few times by dermatologists they would always rather see 100 people with benign growths, than miss a patient with a malignant growth.

Glad to hear they got it.

I too did similar. Showed management, and she phoned the dr this morning as I’m unable to make the 8am rush.

My daughters were always telling me to get the mole on the base of my skull looked at, but as I couldn't see it I wasn't that bothered about it ... then I had a haircut and the barber did that bit where he tries to sell you a mirror at the end of the cut and I saw that yeah, that mole is quite juicy ...

Saw the practice nurse at my GP and was diagnosed by our wonderful NHS 2 weeks later with skin cancer. All good now, no treatment needed other than an overnight stay in Broomfield to have more skin taken away and a biopsy, resulting in two VERY cool scars.

Get those moles checked people ... and if you don't have life and/or critical illness insurance, consider getting it - the silver lining of my whole experience was being just cancerous enough for my critical illness to pay out.

Pretty sure (But happy to be corrected) that it's fast tracked too. I was seen, diagnosed and initially treated all within 4 weeks - bit of a delay for the second stage due to a shortage of biopsy dye, but the NHS don't muck about and are frankly bloody brilliant.

It definitely SHOULD be fast-tracked, but unfortunately, due to the strains on the NHS, my husband heard nothing for 3 months, after being told it was an urgent cancer removal procedure that was required.

It's important to chase the relevant department if you hear nothing. They are under a lot of pressure, and people can occasionally slip under the radar. Take ownership of your health and well-being, peeps!

Agreed. The NHS are bloody brilliant.
I developed a cough and still had it after 4 months.
All my friends said go to the doctors and get it checked out.
So, 8 weeks later I finally got to see the doc - appointments take that long at my practice.
2 days later I had an X-ray.
Grey area on right lung so prescribed penicillin.
2nd X-ray and all clear so no Lung cancer. Yippee.
8 weeks later I'm back at the docs.
Remember I came to see you about the cough - still got it.
She knew she'd dropped a boll*ck so put me on the fast track cancer scheme.
Suddenly the NHS kicks into action.
I've had blood tests, stool sample tests, urine tests, a finger up my a*se, a camera down my throat and my testicles tickled.
I don't have cancer but still have a cough.
So, it seems smoking until 65 (I'm older now) has left it's mark.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Airy Nevus? Wasn't he assassinated by the INLA?

Just seen that Phil beat me to it, but with a slightly better taste biographical nugget.

I feel like my thread has slipped into some radio 4 panel show I don’t quite understand.

I thought Airy Nevus was one of the experts in the early days of Antiques Roadshow.

No, he played for Dortmund and then infiltrated both Nodge and Ipswich from the unlikely starting point of Colchester.
