Sacking Dyche and employing Moyes is like having Harold Shipman as your babysitter, and replacing him with Fred west

What are they trying to achieve . Defensive football for Dyche - defensive football for Moyes

Nonsense.

West Ham under Moyes winning the UECL were nothing like Dyche's Burnley.

I don't love Moyes and his style, but he's clearly an upgrade.

Yep and he's actually quite good at giving his attacking players a platform to express themselves. He's a top manager, it's not the best news for us if he's returning.

That’s really harsh on both of them. Both have proven themselves to be very capable managers in the prem. I don’t think that after 20yrs of championship and Lg 1 mediocrity we’re yet in a position to mock managers that have successfully kept teams in the prem and at times had them challenging for major trophies.

No.

Moyes is a much better version of Dyche. I actually think it’s unfair the stick he gets. He’s had a very successful career.

Not saying I’d want him anywhere near town but unfortunately he’s the perfect candidate for them to work with this group of players in order to keep them above the drop line.

I was hoping they’d go for a progressive more inexperienced manager to take over from where Dyche left off.

Don't believe the media nonsense about Moyes - he is very different to Dyche.

True he has a pragmatic and disciplined approach to football which reflects him but while he builds on defensive solidity and organization, they also have a number of creative outlets. They tend to play a compact formation that minimizes space for opponents and use quick counter-attacks to exploit gaps left by the opposition and rely on a high work rate and physical presence (sound familiar yet?). Basically because his style is results-oriented and focuses on team cohesion rather than a possession-based approach, he gets a lot of stick from those who think he is behind the times and not playing the tippy tappy nonsense that City play.

I actually think that our recent style of play has been closer to a Moyes approach than people realise.

Moyes is a big upgrade on Dyche and just taking a temporary gig. What he achieved at west ham was huge really considering they’re a basket case club and whats happened at United after that I’ll-fated move, proves it wasn’t about him.

In the past,Dyche has done well on much smaller budgets than most PL clubs. He found a style that kept clubs competing in the top tier. You could criticize him for not evolving and adapting his style but he’s been in the most cut-throat league a very long time.

I think the idea is to keep Everton up. Ideally for them, Dyche could have limped across the finish line of the season above the bottom 3, but Ipswich and Wolves are worryingly close, so now the priority will be to stay up. There aren't many good options for them. Sadly, Moyes is almost guaranteed to keep them up.

Is it going to be temporary? I would have expected Moyes to demand a long-term contract.

I think a 6 month contract being quoted.

He also said that he found being manager at West Ham really draining. I’m surprised he’s coming back to such a tough gig to be honest. But he knows the club inside and out.

Moyes managerial career has been quite hit-and-miss - he had success at Preston, Everton and at West Ham. A failure in Spain as well as at Sunderland - think everyone would have failed at Man U immediately after SAF so you can forgive him that.

I think the nearest parallel is whilst at Sunderland. Never got going there, the fans grew to become quite hostile towards him and they were relegated.

Everton’s squad isn’t great, it’s relatively old and limited creativity. Plus they have no cash.

Just seem like a short-term fix, plastering over obvious cracks but it might be good enough for this season.
