Do we have an obligation to buy Cajuste for £10 million at the end of his loan here?

I believe it was conditional on us staying up, so no.

Thank goodness it is. We don't want a £10m commitment going into the Championship, with the wages that go with it.

I think £10 million would be a very good deal if we could have signed him for that.

If we are relegated with a need to invest in players that are almost PL ready, £10 million wouldn’t be that much for those type of quality players.

He can just about manage 60 minutes once a week, can't see him doing Sat- Tues-Sat in the Championship.

He's never playing Championship football.

Alternatively, the lower intensity of Championship football (despite the schedule) might be a good environment for him to work on getting back to 100% fitness.

This "cajuste can't play more than 60 mins" is actually nonsense. Here are the minutes he's done this season:-

31/08/2024 Ipswich Town v Fulham 20
21/09/2024 Southampton v Ipswich Town 61
26/10/2024 Brentford v Ipswich Town 90
02/11/2024 Ipswich Town v Leicester City 9
10/11/2024 Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town 90
24/11/2024 Ipswich Town v Manchester United 65
30/11/2024 Nottingham Forest v Ipswich Town 74
03/12/2024 Ipswich Town v Crystal Palace 66
08/12/2024 Ipswich Town v AFC Bournemouth 0
14/12/2024 Wolverhampton Wanderers v Ipswich Town 75
21/12/2024 Ipswich Town v Newcastle United 62
27/12/2024 Arsenal v Ipswich Town 80
30/12/2024 Ipswich Town v Chelsea 77
05/01/2025 Fulham v Ipswich Town 73
16/01/2025 Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion 71
19/01/2025 Ipswich Town v Manchester City 64
01/02/2025 Ipswich Town v Southampton 77
15/02/2025 Aston Villa v Ipswich Town 80
22/02/2025 Ipswich Town v Tottenham Hotspur 52
26/02/2025 Manchester United v Ipswich Town 90

The only game under 61 minutes which he started was Spurs where he was injured.

Also this disproves he can't play 2 games in 3/4 days too as he has on a few occasions this year.

Its difficult to compare him to anyone as Phillips is in and out the team so i'm sure he barely does 90 mins. Morsy is the captain so normally stays on.

The middle 2 Midfielders is probably the more energitic position, even more so as a lot of teams have 3 in there up against our 2, and without doing the research, we probably change at least 1 of those every game regardless of who starts.

Plus, unless your one of those folk who believe you must flog some nominal 'best eleven' for 90 minutes in every game, possibly in a 4-4-2 formation, you're quite happy to be able to play a player of that calibre for maybe 50% of your minutes over the course of a season, as and when the best opportunities to get the most from him present themselves.

Probably just running out of steam after doing the work of 2 players in the middle of the park.

Exactly this - it’s been a squad game for sometime. In the championship, the teams with money and good management, will be able to build a very good squad with every player able to step-up.

There’s more matches in the championship but with a very good squad those extra matches shouldn’t be a hindrance. It’s why I think that that league isn’t the slog fest many claim that it is.

Also, very good players will be able to dictate the pace and flow of each match - under Mick we had sloggers and I think we all become used to that. I do we do go down, we will be able to afford that extra bit of quality needed to piss the league.

Now I’m not saying that we will piss the league if we do go down. But we will get 100 plus points and score 100 plus goals.

We’ll be able to sign players for more than that if we go do if we want to.
