I'm not of the faith but I've been honoured enough to be invited to a fair few impromptu celebrations by colleagues so it's always a holiday I look out for.

Eid Mubarak! on 09:12 - Mar 31 with 1457 views | DJR | According to the latest census, there are around 5,000 Muslims in Ipswich. Reaching out to them (whether by the club or otherwise) seems no bad thing because it would be nice to think some at least (especially children) will be encouraged to follow the club. Eid Mubarak! on 11:46 - Mar 31 with 1328 views | The_Major | In my university days, there was a chap from Oman who was on the same corridor as me in the halls of residence. As a practicing Muslim, he observed Ramadan, and when it got to Eid that year, he said he'd prepare a feast for the corridor, about 10 of us. And when I say feast, I mean FEAST. The corridor was lined with pots and pans and you've never seen so much food in your life. I'm still not sure if I've worked if all off, and it was thirty years ago.... Good old Wihaad, one of the coolest guys I've ever met. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not such joy in Gaza with Israel continuing its bombing and starvation tactics. https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-hamas-war-news-03-30-2025-ceasefi [Post edited 31 Mar 11:58]

Fair point. But I suppose I was alerted to this by the juxtaposition of a photo in the Guardian of Eid in Gaza in comparison to its photos of more joyous celebrations elsewhere in the World. [Post edited 31 Mar 18:32]

I was heartened to see a few muslim mums with their daughters at the women's game at PR the other day - that's the sort of integration that we (especially those who complain about the lack of efforts to integrate) should be getting right behind.
