has left Everton. Aged 32 now, he's spent the last few years there as a squad player (11 PL starts in 24/25, including at Portman Rd in an all-too-comfortable 2-0 away win, but not a main starter since 21/22). Wonder if he's on our radar.

I guess there are levels of dodgy, aren't there?

I haven't watched him nearly enough to know if he's avoided Champ footy thus far through luck or being too good for it, but I know we need reinforcement now with Big Burge sadly leaving, and I'm not sure we want to pay for an odds-on starter (given we paid good money for Greaves and O'Shea). I remember Leicester picking up Conor Coady in 23/24 to improve squad depth and know-how.

I like the Ben Mee story from KOA on Insta.

Was really good for Burnley but had disappointment for Everton, Dyche signed him having had it him at the former but couldn't get the same out of him.

If we're looking for experience, though I think it would be ambitious and he'll have lots of interest I'd like us to look at Vladimir Coufal (if Axel leaves as expected). Hugely experienced, played lots of games for West Ham, solid and detrirmed

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again

Coady didn't improve The Foxes defence though.

He will score more than Burge did - terrific finish against us as I recall - maybe we should consider him as a backup striker? Also, there cant be many twin brothers who have played up front for the same club at different times in the Championship?

Well he made 19 PL starts last season, in a team that had the best Champ defence in 23/24, so he's added to the competitive depth yeah. Obvs a top Champ defence doesn't cut it at that level but we're down here again now.

Would prefer a younger back up for Greaves. All our back line will have learnt and improved from last season, so O'Shea, Graves and Davis will all to soon be seen as our "experienced" players.

Poll: New hobby suggestions for NeedhamChris.

He was at Everton a long time before Dyche, they spent loads of money on him. Be very surprised if he didn't have Premier League offers.

Do we have dodgy defenders?

To answer both your questions in one ...

I guess all defenders that play enough make mistakes and any defender that ever makes a mistake is then consider dodgy by some. Hence why that poster presumably thinks Michael Keane who has made nearly 200 Premier League appearances for Everton is "dodgy".

Mowbray was nearly 32 when he joined and was just what we needed at the time.

He was exactly what we needed and we were exactly what he needed.

Michael Keane was at Everton 6 years before Dyche was their manager.

On a free he's the sort of player that would make a lot of sense on a 2 year deal if we were short, but he's not going to start ahead of O'Shea or Greaves and I'd imagine his wages would only really be justifiable for a starter.

Its a hard one to recruit, someone who needs to be a step up on someone like Baggott and good enough to deputise in a (hopefully) top Championship side, but also needs to be happy enough that they're not likely to be starting most weeks.

I'm sure another Premier League clubs would take him.

He's likely to want high wages so unless we're planning on shifting OShea to a right back, i'm not sure where he would fit. I would hovever definitely take him on the right deal. As others have said, hes a goal scoring centre back, which is something we lack.
