What is our budget? 16:57 - Aug 19 with 1409 viewsLA_Tractor_Boy

I know it's also about wages and loan fees, but as we've received £70M+ for Omari, Delap and Broady this summer, plus have received approx. £50M in parachute payments, what is a reasonable amount for us to spend before the transfer window closes?

So far we've only paid £7.8M for Matusiwa, so if the owners are serious about going straight back up, then surely we should be looking to reinvest a decent chunk of this windfall.

It is impossible to know and that is by design.

Probably isn't a hard and fast number on it. Obviously finances are finite but I think we would be happy to do deals if the players are there to be bought.

Gun to my head I'd say somewhere in the region of £30 - £40m. Whether we spend it or not is another question.

Impossible to say for sure, but on permanent signings amortised over the length of the contract, it will realistically be a substantial 8 figure number.

It's a unique situation with having to cash in on players who can attract Premier League buyers, before their value plummets as they kick a ball in the Championship, £100M of sales was mentioned by Gamechanger to potential investors, so we are cash rich, although pending payment installments, and I don't think we will be able to attract sufficiently talented players who fit our recruitment model to get anywhere near our budget, e.g. Hayden Hackney. We would like to spend to guarantee bouncing back to the Premier League, but I don't think we can attract the players we want.

Don't forget we spent £120m across the previous two transfer windows

Poll: At what price would you sell our 32 year old Leading Scorer Murphy this summer?

Well...

£77m player sales
£59m parachute money
£40m+ commercial revenue

TOTAL: £176m revenue

What was our wage bill last year... £45m+ with club running costs on top? Let's say it's £60m in total for argument's sake.

You're still looking at some *serious* headroom.

It will be £55million ish in parachute money, probably £5m in season ticket sales, whatever the new shirt sponsor paid, the profit from Delap and Hutchinson plus the £7m from Broadhead but depends how much we got up front from the buying clubs.

Very very loose guestimate - £80-90m in revenue. The £16m bid for Hackney gives you an idea of the sort of fees we are willing to pay. Some money will also be kept back for January you'd imagine.

If we are targeting a £1b valuation by 2030, that has to see us back in the Premier League, and in Europe you would have thought.

They may predict at least a 50% increase on valuations in the next 5 years still, but that would still leave us worth £500m (if you believe those numbers).

Either way, the £200m raise is a good thing, as the only way any investor will make a ROI on this is by investing and us bring successful. Question is, until an investor has been found, what will they do? tread water and await new investor as it will be their perogative to define the strategy.

We make progress by player trading and gamechanger has to be taking money out of the club so it won't be as much as people are predicting

...and deduct the cost of the players we sold.

The last sentence is what the sceptic in me feels is guiding a lot of our business, notably loans. It feels like currently we’re shopping heavily in the loan market because they don’t want to invest heavily in this league.

”await new investor as it will be their perogative to define the strategy.”

Investors normally buy into an existing strategy, rather than define it. If they are actively seeking new investors (as is believed), there will be a prospectus outlining the business opportunity, and the strategy to achieve it. Nothing will change in the short term, and if the plan plays out as predicted, nothing is likely to change in the medium term.
